It is a difficult hike.
It is a difficult hike. Make sure to take your hiking shoes and rain jacket. It was very muddy and slippery in the way back and you have to be careful not to fall down. I would definitely recommend going with a guide. The view at the top wasn't that great because most of the time it is cloudy and you can't really see the lake on the top. If you like a challenging hike with no rewarding view on the top, that's a hike for you, otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

The views on the concepcion volcano are amazing. Bungalows are spacious with natural shower and compostable toilets - just make sure to note that there is no AC in the rooms and it can get really hot during nights. The hotel also booked us a guide for Maderas volcano ($25 per person) who was really good
