The hotel I keep coming back to from my very first arrival to Baleal years ago. Super lovely family business. In amazing location! Ocean is only a few steps away. Supermarket in front. Very comfortable rooms. I never looked for some other place to stay, as this one has all I need and it’s simply perfect! And the people, who run it, amazing! thank you for another great stay!

Great location and wonderful vibe, the staff were really friendly and would 'introduce' each newcomer to those already in the hostel, and it had a really inclusive and fun atmosphere, great for solo travellers like me. It felt more like a home than a hostel, good kitchen set up and comfy rooms. I was recommended this place by another traveller and it didn't disappoint!

I could easily live here.
I could easily live here. The town is small and modern and not one of the historic venues that Porto or Lissabon offers but it has all the amenities that one can possibly look for. The relaxed surfing attitude and the pristine beaches make this a delight to visit. Our objective had just been to visit the beach as we reside in a land locked country and this place could not have been more perfect. The surf was a delight to watch and the air and beaches were clean. The people are friendly and the atmosphere was extremely relaxed.

I went to Baleal with the intention of surfing, and I could surf multiple times a day with some great waves. A week was too short. Keep in mind, I was in Baleal in January. The average air temp was 15c and the sea temp was 16.
It was quiet in the ocean and I could surf almost alone during the day. At the end of the day, after 4 PM the locals head into the water.
Perfect week in January for a surf-get-away.
I was told it is good and quiet until the end of April. It is too busy with surf camps /schools during summer.
Food tip: El Chilitio's! is 8 min a walk from the hostel. Great Mexican food and affordable.
Next to the hostel, there is a little supermarket. It is on the expensive side, but not too crazy.

Very nice place to spend one-two days in the complete calm without the sign of civilisation) Few cafes, restaurants, we found only one shop with pesto for 7.5 eur😬
If you’re going there by car it’s perfect, otherwise you need to have a taxi, never saw a public transport there.
In love with the dunes (wide line!), November waves and a bit melancholic mood.

Fo people who like to surf and love the ocean and steep cliffs this area is just perfect. And the food is also awesome but most of the time you need to make a reservation in the restaurants, if you don't like to wait for a table.

The beach and the water/view was fantastic...a piece of heaven. Baleal "island" is surrounded by cliffs and rocks but wonderful crashing waves. It is a beach area but has decent restaurants within a short walk. Get an apartment there with a view.
Maria is extremely friendly, professional and accommodating and goes above and beyond. She loaned me some items since my bag was delayed and is super responsive by message. A very nice and sufficient Breakfast of local bread and pastries, butter, ham and cheese, cold cereals, local coffee and tea. The room and bed is clean and comfortable. This is a nearly new building. There is a large secure courtyard with outdoor shower and a surfboard rack. I loved having the mini super below. It is 5 minute walk to the beaches.
This place exceeded my expectations, perfect location right on the beach, everything was very clean and beds were very comfortable. The staff is amazing and goes out of their way to help you and make sure you have a great experience which was definitely a highlight! You can also order breakfast that’s delivered right to your terrace so you can wake up and eat looking at the ocean. The breakfast was good too! Everything was perfect, I’d highly recommend this spot and will definitely come back!
I had a nice time here at the castaway guest house.
the team who owns the castaway really puts
an effort to make the guests as comfortable
as possible. :)
for example, they come every afternoon to clean
the entire hostel, and every morning they bring
fresh bread for breakfast.
Apart from that, I also made a bunch of friends at castaway
I could enjoy peniche with such as surfing or
going out for a drink. Overall it was a great stay
The location is perfect, right next to the beach, the rooms are great, very clean, modern and spacious and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. For the 3 of us it was a perfect stay, a place that we'll definitely be booking again once we decide to go back to Baleal. If you want the best possible view book the triple room, it has a balcony with a fantastic view of the beach and coastline.
Baleal Guesthouse is one of my favourite places, the house is super warm and always full of amazing people in a good mood. The owner of the house Bruno is awesome and will always make sure to make your stay enjoyable and arrange everything according to your needs. Also the town of Baleal is a mix of relaxation and good vibe where surfing is everywhere. Don't hesitate, this is the place to be
Lovely, caring hosts. Our Suite was airy, light and very well-maintained. Fantastic location and views from our arched windows were amazing. Small beach in front of the hotel where you can watch the fishermen. Street parking.
Short walk (lots of rocks) to view the sunset then we strolled the cobbled streets and dinner at the Taberna do Ganhão. (April)
We had an amazing stay at In my House Baleal. The House and the rooms are just super cozy and comfortable. The Common areas offer more then enough space to relax and the huge kitchen to properly cook. Valentina is an amazing host who really goes above and beyond to ensure her guests have a great stay. We could definitely come back another time.
Baleal is very nice place, with dunes, full of surfers, with its own mood. In Surf House was very easy going atmosphere, was cute to find on a kitchen some hand/home made things as verbena for example, really lovely! We went there from Peniche, just be aware that without your own car/taxi it’s not possible to go there.
Super friendly staff. Apartment was super clean, organized and with a variety of utensils for cooking. We were with our small child and all items we needed - crib, baby chair and bathtub. When newly visiting baleal & region, we are really considering to stay there again.
We had an amazing staying at Casa do Baleal! The house is perfect, with sea view and very spacious! It had all facilities we could need. Beds were really comfy! The owner of the property was really helpful, and flexible to adjust to our check in and check out time.
A nice surprise … a bit disappointing on the first sight but definitely a place to come back. It feels like a hotel in the neighbourhood but this is nothing bad. We were one of the few guests and had the whole area just for us. And not to forget the 30 C pool.
The host is really kind and always available. The house is really delightful and clean! The location is good, really close to the Baleal beach and Peniche. Definitely recommend this apartment and hope to come back soon! Perfect for some family vacations :)
Loved this apartment. Excellent location perfectly in between Baleal and Ferrel. Great value for money - and the perfect place for a group of 3 -4 friends. Extremely well stocked kitchen, and a lovely big dinning table for group meals.
The Wave Baleal was a great place to say, right on the beach on Baleal island you can see the sea from your bed. Danielle is really helpful and nice guy. Definitely a character. Breakfasts are great and dessert is even better.
Yey Baleal is a great, simple place to stay for surfers or visitors of Baleal, situated right by the beach. The staff is lovely, the breakfast nice, the checkin very smooth. We also loved the café downstairs.
The true atmosphere you expect to meet at a surf camp. The rooms were nice and clean, the ocean is 2 min walking. Luis is the greatest host, wish him the nicest guests:)
