The kitchen was big with lots of utensils. Great location for anyone doing the Tongariro Crossing or exploring the National Park. Adjacent bar was fun to pop in to and staff at both the hostel and bar were very friendly. Can highly recommend catching sunrise, the stars and sunset.madeleineGroup

The kitchen was great and perfectly equipped. The beds were super comfortable. Howard's Lodge is the best place when you plan to visit Tongariro. Communication with personnel was ok even though we haven't met anyone.l :D

I had really bad blisters from a hike and couldn’t do much but spending the time in the lodge was great.

Facilities-You can really see that they are trying to spruce up the place and turn it into such a lovely place to stay. A lot of care and attention to detail is shown even as far as decorations to make it feel more homely compared to some lodges and backpackers I've stayed at.
