Providing river views, African Safari Lodge in Grahamstown provides accommodation, a garden, a shared lounge, a terrace and barbecue facilities. Both WiFi and private parking are available at the lodge free of charge.

Our experience at this lodge was hands down wonderful. The room was spacious&clean and had an amazing view to the river. The nature around was beautiful. The whole experience felt really private. We booked a guided tour and a game drive which was also very private. The ranger who ran the activities was simply wonderful. He shared his deep knowledge in flora & fauna, we really enjoyed our time with him. We saw a variety of animals, not only on the guided tours but as well as just walking around property. The value for money is just insanely good. +The food was delicious! Best wishes to Dean & Fay who really cared to make our time at the lodge memorable. Would love to come back. Thank you!

The 5-star Pumba Private Game Reserve lodge has views from a private wooden deck overlooking Lake Kariega or the African bush. Located 20 km from Grahamstown, some chalets include a private plunge pool.

This was an incredible and luxurious experience. The all inclusive price of meals and drinks meant that everything you could possibly expect was part of the package. Including minibar which is restocked twice a day while we were on our game drives. You definitely will not go home hungry. Three course meals, wines, sprits, soft drinks, snacks. The twice daily game drives were like being in a documentary. You don’t just see the wildlife, you learn their behaviours as well. You are assigned the same guide for the whole trip, our guide was Thomas, who kept track of what we’d seen and made sure we saw as much variety as possible. The information he shared was outstanding. The accomodation was exceptional. We stayed at the water lodge for two nights and extended our stay for a night. We had to move to the bush lodge for the extra night. It’s hard to say which was better. My partner liked the room in the bush lodge better, I preferred the room at the water lodge, but we both agreed that both rooms were outstanding. We also agreed that the water view at the water lodge was more spectacular. The water lodge staff and overall ambiance felt more intimate and personal. If we visited again we’d choose the water lodge. It was my first time on a safari and I was blown away. It was my partners 6th time visiting a game reserve, and hands down, this was the best experience they’d ever had.

The lodge offers a barbecue.

Good location a few km from the N2 and I’m the middle of a big game farm. Very nice, historic buildings thoughtfully conserved. The fort tower was a real highlight. Nice pool to relax in after a long drive. Clara and Sean were excellent hosts. Their passion for the place really came through and was infectious. They prepared nice meals and Sean took us on a good game drive around the farm with interesting insights on land/ game management, history, and the plants/ animals themselves.

Martin and his team were absolutely incredible. From personalised meals to great conversations at the bar or front of the braai. Rooms were spacious and clean. The lodge was private enough to feel that we were in nature, but the location was conveniently close enough to Grahamstown to visit family whenever we wanted to.

Absolutely everything! It started so great with a warm Welcome at the Reception with Michaela to the Welcome at the Lodge with Stacey. We had a Drink and a superdelisheos Lunch (great Chef!). The room was awesome, all the staff great and our Ranger Courtney and Tracker Vuyani a great Team with huge Knowledge. No question Courtney cound't answer. The game drives were great fun and we were so lucky that in one game drive we saw all of the Big 5. Bush Brealfast and Boma, Dinner in our Room - always up to a surprise were just the cherries on top! Absolutely in LOVE with this place!

There was nothing to dislike. The game drives were excellent- conducted by Thomas who seemed to know everything you might want to know about the animals and plants. The staff at the lodge were warm and welcoming. The food was very good and the lodges outstanding. Would highly recommend.

We stayed in a Mesenger Room ( B). Good size room, very clean, comfortable , great decor, bath , shower , outside shower, plunge pool with balcony overlooking the waterhole. Completely private. The Pumba Lodge team are friendly and helpful. Pumbs our safari guide was amazing, has worked there for 20 years and is very knowledgeable and we saw lots of animals on our safari drives.

Always a pleasure staying at Africa Safari Lodge. This time round, Dean made it extra special by capturing some memorable moments. The welcome reception and the overall stay was amazing. Picturistique and tranquil views are always breathtaking especially with lots of rains in the recent weeks.

The Pumba Game Reserve was incredible. The lodges with plunge pool were luxurious, lots of glass with wonderful views, but very private. The staff couldn't be more helpful and the guides were knowledgeable. The game drives were beyond anything I have experienced previously, the food was varied and incredibly good quality for a all inclusive stay.

It was absolutely superb. The complete wow factor from the moment we entered reception with the funny rehearsed joke about the archery to the A star ranger we had called Cleo. The lodges were luxurious, completely private with outdoor showers looking out onto the savannah where we watched elephants, zebras, wart hogs, Kudu etc stroll by. Fabulous food… nothing to fault we felt so sad to leave.
