Somerset Apartments offers a range of accommodation on Lord Howe Island, situated between Neds Beach and the Lagoon, allowing easy walking and cycling to nearby shops, restaurants and the Visitor... First of all, Lord Howe Island is one of the most beautiful destinations we have ever encountered, and the Somerset Apartments were a wonderful place to stay while enjoying the island. We visited the museum, and went scuba diving, bird watching, and hiking. The apartments are basic, and ours had a small kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator, which allowed us to cook small meals. The apartments are very conveniently located, midway and a short walk to both Ned's and Lagoon beaches. There is only one restaurant nearby, but there are two small grocery stores that had some small pre-made meals for the microwave or burgers. There is homemade ice-cream at the post office, and a food truck at Ned's beach when we were there. For slightly more distant restaurants, a shuttle for pickup can be arranged. We had to cancel our first night because the weather delayed our plane, but we were aware of the 8 week cancellation policy, and the management provided us a letter for reimbursement from our travel insurance. We hope one day we can go back!

With a restaurant and free airport transfers, Beachcomber Lodge offers everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Set on 5 beautiful acres, it is a short stroll from Ned’s Beach and Middle Beach. We loved Beachcomber Lodge. Perfect for what we needed, nice rooms and an easy walk down into town. Loved the garden and being close to nature and very helpful staff.

Arajilla Retreat is located in a forest area just behind Old Settlement Beach on Lord Howe Island. Guests can choose from a range of 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom luxurious suites.
Lord Howe island is a fantastic location (From my Scottish point of view, it's like the Hebrides with Palm trees...) There is a laid back vibe and everyone seems to slip into friendly mode. Worth renting a bike to get around (the roads are quiet and local drivers considerate)
Lord Howe Island is amazing if you love nature and the outdoors... The adventures are endless... The pristine views, beautiful birds, Feeding the Fish at Neds Beach, stunning snorkeling opportunities, the challenge of treking Mt Gower on a guided tour, cycling or walking all around the island, the amazing food at the different restaurants (especially the Anchorage) and learning about the islands history in the museum... This was my 2nd holiday at Lord Howe Island and I will definitely be planning a 3rd trip... Fantastic!
Beautiful Island, many great hikes to do, crystal clear water, the softest sand I have ever walked upon, the people of Lord Howe Island are very friendly and helpful, very easy to get around the island on foot or hire a bicycle, many boat and enviro tours.
Lord Howe Island is one of those surprise locations right on your doorstep. Gorgeous temperate climate, with stunning scenery. Activities for those to do as much or as little as you like. Wade along Old Settlement Beach and have turtles swim by. It is truly an oasis off the NSW coast. Having travelled extensively over the years, this will - I hope become a regular destination of ours.
We loved Lord Howe Island. Such an escape from the everyday. Incredible scenery, wildlife and experiences. Highly recommend.
Lord Howe Island is a hidden gem. It’s majestic mountains to the sea is spectacular. It’s quiet, not overrun with tourists and the perfect escape from city life. Ned’s beach is the prettiest beach I have seen anywhere in the pacific . In fact, Lord Howe Island is the best island in the pacific. I have been to most of them so feel a good judge. If you like water activities there are plenty on offer and if you like to climb mountains and to do nature walks there are plenty of that type of activity too.
