Lots of attention to detail by the very professional hosts. Cozy and inviting. Excellent food of very high standard.

Set in Thiviers, Le Belvédère is a beautiful private property which provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden and a terrace. The location was finé and the host attentive. Breakfast was continental (toast, croissant, pain au chocolat, yoghurt, coffee or tea). We chose to eat in for dinner, and the first night’s meal was excellent. The host had to be away from the hotel the next day so the meal was not of the same standard, but we would eat in again on a future visit.

Nestled in Champagnac-de-Belair, in the heart of the Périgord region, Le Moulin du Roc was built in 1670 on the Dronne, a river which runs through its grounds. The property is 5 km from Brantôme. The gardens most of all. They are magical. The spaces are well furnished as well.

Moulin de Vigonac is set in a former 16th-century watermill, cradled by the river Dronne and located in Brantôme, often named the Venice of the Dordogne region. Wonderful family run operation on a gorgeous 7 acre property. Rooms were very comfortable, quiet (soundproofed) and with great air conditioning. Oliver, the property manager, is the owners son and is extremely personable, multi - lingual, and very knowledgeable. He gave us a great overview of the property and the region with highlights we should make sure to see. His mom and dad are integral parts of the facility and Dad is the restaurant chef. The food is superb. Enjoyed our dinners immensely and breakfast is more than you could ask for. Highly recommend this property.

Moulin de L'Abbaye is in the market town of Brantôme, in Périgord. It offers rooms with air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a safety deposit box and free WiFi. First of all after our tour of the whole of France, and staying in 12 hotels...5 stars mainly, only 2 properties exceeded our expectations.One of them was the idyllic Moulin de Abbaye and the dreamy dreamy dreamy location and environment they have created. It feels like a little forest fairy tale. Each corner of the small property is touched and cared to detail. From the moulin, to the gardens, the grass, the green, the window for breakfast and the dinner setting. Next time I will try and get the top room with bath tub, since I bet will be even more amazing. We had an exceptional stay on the 2 rooms we rented, and will recommend with no doubt this dreamy place to couples in honeymoon or seeking for romance in France.

Featuring a terrace, bar and free WiFi, Le Coligny is located in Brantôme, 18 km from Bourdeilles Castle and 23 km from Périgueux Golf Course. Great hotel in the centre of such a beautiful town. We had a beautiful view over the river, a spacious room, comfortable bed and great bathroom. We’d definitely come back.

Situated in Payzac, within 21 km of Jumilhac Castle and 23 km of Hautefort Castle, Hotel des Voyageurs features accommodation with a bar and as well as free private parking for guests who drive. Charming and well finished - a very comfortable and restful experience in an ideal location. Everything from the food to flowers was outstanding. The hostess, Sandrine, was kind, professional and accommodating of every request. Plus, little Simba (her French bulldog) was very friendly and entertaining!

Set in a 17th-century house located in Bourdeilles, between the Dronne River and the village’s two castles, Hostellerie Les Griffons features shared living rooms with antique furniture, exposed stone... This little hotel in the shadow of the château is almost absurdly beautiful, even by the standards of the region. Better still, Bourdeilles is less crowded that many other places - when we visited in late May it barely felt touristy at all. Sandwiched between the château and the river, the hotel is bursting with charm - if you tried to design a fairytale French village, this is what you would draw. The staff weren't just charming, they were positively delightful. The food was excellent (and they were exceptionally generous with the foie gras) and the wine list was, as you'd expect in this area, absolutely brilliant.
