Compared to Tbilisi the people here are less used to...
Compared to Tbilisi the people here are less used to tourists. And (generalizing) they are more 'show off' people. Me and my gf are an unusual couple (tall dutch guy and little georgian girl) but we were often rude stared at. Much more than in Tbilisi. Since they thought my gf is also foreigner they gossiped about us while standing next to them. Being called stupid tourists while doing nothing wrong is weird. I felt less welcome and comfortable than in Tbilisi. Kutaisi itself has a few nice things to offer, but 1-2 days is enough for city itself. It is however excellent located for several excursions in the beautiful imereti region.

Kutaisi is a great city as a starting point to discover Georgia. Kutaisi is a lovely town itself, completely different than Tbilisi or Batumi. There's a nice old town and the street markets are very authentic and not the same as the usual basars. Around the town you can find a couple of national parks and other cities which are great for day trips, like Chiatura, the Okatse Canyon and Prometheus caves. In the beginning we had some problems to find an open restaurant, since the information at Tripadvisor are not up-to-date. But after a while we found some good places just by walking around. Also people from Imereti are pretty hospitable and friendly!

I did zero research about Kutaisi as I wanted to go with the flow. I only used booking.com to put filters to be city center and near attractions. I checked in at night, raining, so I didn’t see much… only to realize in the morning that the hotel is literally 20 steps away from everything! okay now to the hotel WOW! I had low expectations, and I’m from Dubai where I stay at luxury hotels, and honestly this was up to standard as far as the extra little frills goes! Robes, slippers, toothbrushes, extra pillows and blankets, mini fridge! you name it! I will definitely be returning and can’t wait to stay again!! a lovely view of the river too!

The breakfast was amazing! Fresh food from the village and big selection to suit any taste. The owner let us try his homebrew alchohol which was very nice. We checked in very late night and he was there kindly waiting for us. The room was preheated on a very cold night which made the sleep comfortable. Rustic and farm house feel from outside with modern and clean clean rooms. Would stay again 100% fantastic value for money.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and quite 'glitzy' and clearly bulit to accommodate many more guest than it was doing when we were there. It was spacious! Google maps did not take us the right way... So you will need to use Maps Me or intuition to find it as it is in a large Soviet block estate. Or if you're coming from the south with the spa baths park on your left, turn right after the police station, go to the top of a small hill and turn left. Drive alongside a wall, and then left again into the car park at the front of the hotel. The whole experience of this hotel was a tad quirky .. In a good way Breakfast was good. 'Town' is, an interesting 20 minute walk away... Which you can tske partly through the spa baths' park.
