A great view upon the mountains, that's even more beautiful with sunrise and sunset! The owners were very friendly and always in for a chat, and even some sightseeing and aurora advice. Bonus for Dutch travelers: the owner also speaks a good amount of Dutch! I'm definitely coming back to this hotel if I visit Iceland again. Really enjoyed my stay there.

They offered fish and meats too. Free coffee and tea all day! We had vegan burgers for dinner that were very filling and tasty. We found the room to be spacious and very clean. There was only soap available in the room. The staff was great, so nice and responsive before arriving. There was a cute gift shop too. I liked all the animals on display. Fantastic location to visit Diamond Beach and Glacier Lagoon, it's only 25 minutes and worth the drive especially for the value.

Although a bit out of the way, its not a bad base for East Iceland. There are a number of quiet fishing towns within reasonable distance. For us, the trip was marked by a fantastic and exceptional showing of the northern lights which we will always associated with Fáskrúðsfjörður. There is a couple of nice restaurants in the town, but be prepared to travel to see things - but this applies to all of East Iceland of course.
We stayed one night on a trip around the Ring Road. Egilstaddir has several cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, clothing and other retail shops, and a regional airport, making it a good place for an overnight stay. Not as charming as nearby Seyðisfjörður (about half an hour's drive farther east over a mountain pass in good weather), which has better restaurant options, a picturesque and walkable downtown, and more dramatic scenery, but if you're staying a couple of nights in this part of East Iceland, Egilstaddir might be a better home base for exploring the region as it's easier to get in and out of. Salt Cafe has good sandwiches that are much cheaper than the Subway nearby. Don't miss the bookstore and bakery at the foot of the bridge. Netto has decent prices on groceries and also has a reasonable selection of home goods, souvenirs, toiletries, toys, and clothing if there's anything you forgot to pack or need to replace.
Just a short drive from amenities in Egilsstadir, the clean and comfy Litlabjarg Guesthouse is in an excellent location to explore the surrounding landscape and wildlife of northeast Iceland. Many coastal villages are within an hour drive, including Bakkagerdi, where you can enjoy a lamb buffet and a concert after viewing the puffins at Hafnar.
Nice little village in east Iceland. Tranquil and beautiful. Try out the food at Mjóeyri restaurant.
Egilsstadir
The room was very beautiful. The beds were very comfy. They had a small table and chairs outside the room were you can have coffee/breakfast! The kitchen was very good and they provided plates/pans etc... The room was also very clean. The price is very reasonable of what they offer! It is located a few minutes again from the city - you just cross a bridge! It is a perfect stop if you are planning to visit East Iceland - which is the most beautiful area in Iceland! We had a very good stay there! Well done to the owners!
Höfn
The location is dynamite. The farm was beautiful and you are right near Stokknes and Hofn. You are also between the large looming mountains and sea. The breakfast was easily the best we had in Iceland with local speciality food items included. Our host took time out of her day to recommend places to stop in east Iceland - she was so well-prepared that she gave us a full printed paper with each location listed in order. Learning about Iceland from a local is second to none and beyond interesting. Thank you again!
Egilsstadir
The house is right outside the town of Egilsstadir, very easy to find. We were met by a very friendly owner and his two lovely dogs. He was extremely helpful and the house was truly a gem! Decorated with old-style furniture, but very cosy, clean and it has a hot tub outside with an amazing view! We wish we could have stayed longer and can definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to spend time at East Iceland!
Stóri-Bakki
This cottage is my favorite place during my 14 day trip in iceland. It's a lovely house located in the middle of a field, with great view and cute horsies! I love the hot tub and homey decoration of the place. Would consider rebook if I ever visit northeast Iceland again.
Wanna something different then other accommodation when in East Iceland and Egilsstaðir? Then choose this one. It's get an vintage feeling, back in time. Also it's located on a farm, so you get a real farm feeling :) Great handsoap and showergels as a bonus.
Our stay at this place was excellent. Lady at the reception was kind and helpful. Landscape around the area is stunning, we even saw northern lights . The hot tub was a plus to say it was our favourite accomodation in South East Iceland ❤️
Djúpivogur
the location: an hidden real Icelandic landscape in a real Icelandic house. the absolute kindness of the staff! Clean and comfortable, also in the common spaces. Fossardalur is a very beautiful area of East Iceland that worth a visit!
This is a lovely renovated Bank building in the heart of Seydesfjordur, a very charming fjord town in Northeast Iceland. We loved the room. It was very comfortable with a very nice bathroom with a shower.
Room was just what we needed. Nothing fancy but perfect for one night as we passed through east Iceland. It's in a small town so it is exactly what you'd expect. Enjoyed breakfast as well.
