Owners are absolutely lovely and the hotel is in the middle of nature: I saw a fox from my window! There is even a guitar in the reception that guests can play. Also, breakfast is great!

Located in Barisciano in the Abruzzo Region, 16 km from L’Aquila, Convento di San Colombo is set in its garden and it features a children's playground and views of the mountain. The accommodation place is really beautiful and the room is very comfortable. However, one thing that they don't mention is just how breathtaking their view is from the garden. WOW WOW WOW!!! We had no idea that this region was going to be so spectacularly beautiful and wish that we had stayed longer for hiking but it just means we have to come back.

Sextantio Albergo Diffuso offers unique accommodation in the fortified medieval village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, deep in the Abruzzo hillside, at 1250 metres a.s.l. The rustic luxury is unique and visually enticing. Although rustic it was very comfortable. The village was buzzing but not too crowded. La Locanda restaurant was a gem excellent breakfasts and wonderful dinners. We ate there every night! The candles in each room and common spaces created a romantic atmosphere. The quality of the soaps and body wash was greatly appreciated. But the highlight of our stay was the exceptional service from the front desk with Carlo (and Stefania my name sake) to Ricardo and others in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. Responses were immediate and with good cheer. Outstanding!
