Ideally set in the centre of Florence, Hotel Davanzati offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, private parking and room service. This 3-star hotel offers a bar. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly upon our arrival. Explained and proposed all the restaurants and attractions to visit. The breakfast was wonderful and the happy hour at 6.30pm was worth doing considering that food and drinks have become very expensive in Florence. Free wine and Prosecco! 😁. The room was comfy and cozy . The location of the hotel is perfect to reach all the main attractions with ease and was an easy walk from the main train station. Definitely worth every cent for this upper 3 star hotel.
Hotel in Campo Di Marte, Florence
Situated in Florence and with San Marco Church in Florence reachable within less than 1 km, 3110 ArtHotel features concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a terrace, free WiFi throughout the property... The hotel was spotless and the design choices, wonderfully quirky, like a Timothy Oulton store. I found the fixtures in the rooms, surprisingly luxe for a small business. It has clearly been renovated recently and everything works perfectly. Breakfast was faultless. It's everything you would expect to see in a continental breakfast. The hotel location is a 25-30 minute breezy walk away from the city centre in a nice residential neighbourhood where you would not feel harassed by touts. When I asked if I could extend my check out time to catch an evening flight because I was having bad pains in my neck and back owing to the grueling 1.5 day train ride from Frankfurt to Florence (bad weather and strikes caused Lufthansa to cancel my flight 3 times and I couldn't miss a wedding in Florence) the manager was kind enough to allow me to extend for free out of compassion. You can't ask for anything more from a small but incredibly well run business that places customer care over the almighty dollar.

The food was also quite decent. It also has bikes for rental, which although we didn’t use, looked to be in good condition and could be very useful for some travelers.

I think you would need weeks to see all/ and the true Florence. I had only 3 nights, to shop, sightsee and take in the ambiance. My tour of the Accademia, Duomo, and Ufizzy, were all excellent, except for the long lines you encounter. I had skip the line tickets but you still need to queue. My trip to Tuscany, including lunch was to die for. It was beautiful to get out of the hustle and bustle of Florence for a day. Florence is very beautiful with such amazing history and architecture, you could just wander and look at the buildings. It is very expensive for a person on my budget, but you don’t have to buy in the designer shops and can find yummy places to eat cheaply I would definitely return and spend more time there!!!
This is a beautiful little town with a good mix of restaurants, wine bars or just snacks if you want something light for lunch. We had a rental car and visited several of the towns in Tuscany. We hired E bikes from Urban Bikery in town, this was a great experience. It took us to a beautiful winery off the track where I would say had the best pasta so far on the trip. The bikes were great fun and easy to ride. I’m glad we chose Montepulciano as our base as it wasn’t too busy and the view and position are amazing. Highly recommend
The Duomo inside and out is spectacular and is free, but you need to book tickets in advance to gain access to the top of the dome (cupola) to enjoy splendid views over Florence. The hop on hop off red bus tours are great for seeing the city quickly and learning more about it. Line A is the city centre and takes a ride up to Piazzale Michelangelo, through the leafy affluent suburbs that smell amazing with the scent of Cypress trees. The view from the piazzale is unreal!! Line B is also great, taking you to the small roman village of Fiesole. The bus climbs up the hills of tuscany, passing many olive groves. The view is breathtaking and definitely worth the ride! To eat - Grom for outstanding gelato. Gustavino restaurant just off the duomo is a brilliant steak house (but with a wider menu) and very affordable!
What I loved most about Florence was taking a tour to Tuscany and Pisa. In Florence, the little streets, cathedrals, Ponte Veccio bridge, etc. Lots of shopping stores and restaurants.
I've been to Pisa several times, I really like it and its a great place to use as a base for visiting other parts of Tuscany. We found two really great restaurants which we went to all week, the food was great and the service and staff were very good. Lots to see in Pisa and nice places to visit within easy reach. The transport system is extremely good and cheap.
An underrated city Pisa has much to offer. Obviously the tower and surroundings but the restaurants and shops are good too. We like the botanic gardens and the university area and Pisa is a great hub for a Tuscany exploration.
Absolutely love Cortona from beginning to end a true gem in Tuscany. Definitely visit again soon. Fantastic restaurants, ristorante cacciatore in a little side street off piazza della Repubblica. Great views and fantastic country walks.
It’s not a great base to travel to Tuscany . We have stayed in Montepulciano , Umbria and that area reflects more about Tuscan life. I would rather stay in Florence than San gimiano next time . Also cities like Cortona, Assisi , Montalcino are great to base urself for Tuscany .
A lovely walled city that should be in anyone’s itinerary when visiting northern Tuscany small enough to walk everywhere with bars Cafe's and restaurants to cater for all tastes.
Great little town, amazing views over Tuscany, Great places to eat and drink, good independent shops, we attending a wedding here and it was beautiful, great for people watching and eating al fresco, it does get very busy so parking very limited, best to park outside of main bit and walk up the hill, comfy shoes a necessity.
Montalcino
Firstly the staff - they were incredibly friendly and attentive and were able to arrange a return taxi to Montalcino town at very short notice. You are about 10 minute drive from Montalcino and looking out over break-taking views across Tuscany. The pool is amazing and looks out over the breathtaking views. The Hotel itself has a vineyard with extremely high quality Brunello, and the rooms are fitted with special wine fridges with all the best wine from the Hotel vineyard. The room itself was really spacious and had an amazing bathroom!
Pisa
Well maintained, clean apartment. Very comfy bed. TV in living room and bedroom. Milk and tea/coffee supplied. Very easy to find and just 20 mins walk to airport. It's an excellent base to explore Tuscany. Train station is 10 mins walk, Leaning tower is 30 mins walk. Plenty of good places to eat. Apartment was very cosy as weather was slightly cold but felt really cosy inside apartment. Owner was lovely and was available on WhatsApp to answer any questions but we didn't have any, we were completed happy with our choice.
The location of Hotel Belvedere Di San Leonino was perfect for exploring the sounding towns and a great place to relax and enjoy the sights, smells and tastes of Tuscany. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. My family and I enjoyed 3 nights here and wish we stayed longer. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The pool is the perfect place to have a lazy day swimming, drinking and sun bathing! We only enjoyed one evening dinner here and it didn't disappoint, the team is excellent.
The Staff This was our first stay as part of a wider trip in Tuscany. The staff could not have been more helpful. The communication before the stay was great (e.g. booking space in the garage). The Room While smallish was very nice with a small terrace overlooking the countryside and the pool area. The Location This really is the best part of Hotel San Lino. It's within the city walls which means carrying luggage to the hotel is much simpler. Also there is a beautiful church next door to it.
Volterra
The Apartment was really big with bedroom, living-room with small kitchen and fridge and separate bathroom. I really enjoyed that it was little outside of the old center but just walking 10 to 15 min to be in the center and see all the nice and interesting places, buildings, very nice view in many places to the landscape and the tuscany hills. Everywherer the people (bars, shops, restaurants, owner of apartment-house) was so nice and friendly. I enjoyed this stay to Volterra a lot.
Very nice and cosy hotel in with gorgeous view at Tuscany. Situated among olive groves and vineyards it’s so relaxing and peaceful I would recomend anyone seeking refuge from a buisy life. Hotel also offers typical tuscan food for lunch or dinner at resanoble price. Vine lovers can also try a good range of vines and other liquors. They also produce their own vine and olive oil. There is also nice pool and it is nice additoin to the offer especially if you come with children.
This is my third time to stay with the Genovese family in 10 years. I always wonder if I have stayed somewhere before if their standards have lessened. I’m pleased to say the Hotel Capitano group of hotels and their restaurant are holding even loftier standards than before. This time I was traveling alone, but in the past have had a + one. It’s also a very romantic spot. For the hustle and bustle of Tuscany San Q is rather quiet….it makes it a very desirable spot.
The Hotel is more like staying at a villa-manor or farm estate, because of the vineyards, beautiful gardens and indoor design as well as lovely rooms designed so authentically. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is close to Cortona and half an hour drive to other scenic places and drives. It suited us as we wanted to stay in one place and travel with our car around South Tuscany. We plan to stay with them again next time and recommend to our friends.
We chose Hotel Ercolini & Savi as the first accommodation for our honeymoon in Tuscany and it was the best choice. The hotel is located in the center very easily accessible by train. The service was impeccable, the staff always kind and willing to help you with any information, the room was clean and spacious, while the breakfast and the food served in the restaurant La Pecora Nera was delicious. It was a very pleasant experience.
Hotel Santa Caterina has the greatly healing view with Tuscany hills and trees. The location is close to the main square at very quiet zone so I could have very good sleep. The breakfast has lots of options and the dining room was lovely and peaceful looking over the great view so I could start my mornings happily. All the staffs were helpful and friendly so I was pleased with talking with them. Definitely I would stay there again!
Pienza
breakfast was excellent Maura was there every morning in a beautiful outdoor glass encased building to cook and provide homemade jams, cakes and more which mostly came from their farm. Provided great help during our stay with advice on how to enjoy Tuscany. Apartment was well stocked with cooking equipment had good beds, seating and great bathroom which all looked very new. Parked in a Covered space and the views were great.
San Gimignano
Lovely surroundings, beautiful building. We loved the pool area and the pool was really big, and was kept really nice and clean. Apartment had great bathroom facilities and space. Great location near to San Gimignano (we could see it from our front door), secure gated parking facilities. Day trips possible to lots of other areas of Tuscany. Friendly, easy communication and arrival process with really helpful host.
Cortona
Amazing place, with an old vibe to it that goes with the town and its surroundings. A perl lost in the magic of central Italy. The staff was exceptionally helpful, caring and thoughtful. Totally recommend it if you’re looking for a place central both to Umbria and Tuscany, Cortona, from the top of its promontory is a gem of history and character. Thank you Casa Franci for the amazing experience, we’ll be back.
San Gimignano
The location was perfect with no other properties close by to detract from the beautiful views of the rolling hills and orchards. The room was large and comfy. The breakfast buffet was very good with many selections to choose from and dinner was excellent, it was one of the best dinners we had in Italy. If we ever return to Tuscany, this will be our number one choice to stay.
Hotel staffs are very kind and friendly. They gave us detailed information for sightseeing such as where can we find typical Tuscany scenery, interesting town and winery tour. And also we enjoyed foods at breakfast and dinner. The hotel located bit far from the town, a restaurant in the hotel has beautiful Tuscany dishes and wines. So no idea to go out for dinner.
San Gimignano
Everything!!! if you imagine a beautiful villa in Tuscany with a view…..it is this place! The rooms were immaculate and very nicely furnished. The place had everything you would need to cook too. the view is breathtaking. Andrea was super friendly and so helpful. This was by far the best place we stayed in all of our Italy trip. I will definitely go back!
Gambassi Terme
Exceptional place. We stayed in Apartment 4 and it was great, very spacious and with a nice swimming pool view. The area is great, far from other people and with beautiful views over tuscany. I really loved the outdoor area and the fact that each flat has its own outdoor table and sunbeds. Would definitely come back.
Lucca
The Location : Lucca is a must see and largely unnoticed small city in Tuscany , its walled , flat sophisticated and utterly charming . The Hotel is well located to explore the Historical Center . The Room were well appointed and very nicely decorated . Hauling 4 suitcases up the narrow stairs was no fun .
it’s a beautiful slice of Italy to stay at this property looking out over Tuscany and walking to the Duomo in 5 minutes or il Campo in a few more minutes. the staff are lovely, the location wonderful. if you are driving and you follow their directions explicitly. you have great parking for a nominal fee.
casa volpi is a great stay for those road-tripping in Tuscany. It is a very comfortable, family-run location. There’s also a good restaurant, so you can choose to dine in at the Hotel, which is very convenient. large, clean, comfortable rooms, good wifi, elevator, beautiful view of Arezzo, good breakfast
