The excursions are well worth it. Herman our guide taught us a great deal about the local wildlife. Seeing the desert elephants was a holiday highlight. He also took us to visit Twyfelfontein in the afternoon, it was quiet and a wonderful way to appreciate the stones. Again his knowledge was exceptional. The tents are very comfortable with a shower, toilet and WiFi. The food is all freshly cooked on site and the best we’ve had in Namibia.

Located 25 km from Khorixas, Gondwana Damara Mopane Lodge offers accommodation set in a semi-circle of interlinking pathways with a swimming pool at the centre. Cottages are separate in their own little yards. Large room. The yards grow vegetables which the lodge uses for the meals. Staff are very good. Delicious buffet with game meat and a variety of vegetables. Maria, the server, was very good. Breakfast buffet is also good with a nice variety including hot food.

Staff and management very welcoming, good prepared dinner as we didn't want to self cater. Nice rugged surroundings but accessible for 2wd vehicle.
