Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Flamur and his wife (I do not know how to write her name ;-)) are the loveliest people!! They are super welcoming and make you feel like family. They gave us a super tasty welcome drink and let us try some fruit from their garden. They also provided (at extra cost) a SUPER tasty breakfast. They were very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The view from the patio is AMAZING!! The view and the people is what make this a perfect holiday place! The guesthouse is located on a short walking distance from the castle and a short walking distance to Berat. For people that have difficulties walking, this place is not so suitable, because you have to walk up a steep hill every time you want to go out. We loved it, because it was a great work out, but keep this in mind if you have mobility issues. The guesthouse has a free parking spot, which is great. However, you need to feel comfortable driving as you have to drive your car up and down the steep hill. For my husband this was not an issue, but I would not have felt comfortable doing this myself. We would 100% recommend this place in Berat and are truly hoping that we can go back one day to see Flamur and his lovely wife again!

AustriaStunning location on a hill overlooking Berat. Few steps from the castle, 10 minutes walk to the promenade, yet in a peaceful and quiet spot. The owner is an absolute gem. Super nice, cheerful and helpful, everything was "no problem" The room was nice, yet a bit tired with all the door handles creaking. Beds were too soft for my liking, but I do have a thing for a hard mattress. Nice breakfast on a terrace with a lovely view on the town was definitely a great way to start a day. We found it a bit difficult to get there late in the evening with no internet access, as sign posts to accommodation are not allowed in Berat. Perhaps the map I have uploaded would be helpful. After leaving the paved road the last section to the guesthouse may seem a bit steep, but is really ... no problem :)

HungaryThe Guesthouse has a great location with excellent view of Berat and the surrounding mountains. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and chatty. The breakfast is delicious with fruits from the garden. It is a bit tricky to find and approach the house with car, but manageable. Emiljo’s Guesthouse is a great choice when you stay in Berat.

Fantastic hosts. Very warm, friendly & always wanting to help. Clean. We were provided with heater as it was quite cold. Good wifi. Nice vegetarian breakfast with bread, fig jam, fruits, cheese & tomato/cucumber. Very close to old town and right next to castle. Walk up from old town is a steep 300m or so walk. Driveway is very steep but our small car managed it fine. No problems if you are a decent enough driver. Kippis!

Flamur and his wife are the best host ever. They did not speak much english but it did not prevent them from sharing and communicate with us. We spent a great evening with them, having some homemade raki and nice mandarins they picked straight from the tree for us. The view is absolutely stunning, the free parking and private bathroom were a plus. The bed was comfortable and the place was very clean and quiet. We had a lovely breakfast with fresh products and homemade plum jam. We had the chance to meet the sweet girl (10 yo) leaving next door who spoke good english and helped with translation when needed. They made us feel like home and we regret we could not stay longer. Thank you so much !!

FranceIt's hard to put into words our stay with Flamur and family. They waited out on their balcony for us to arrive to show us the drive down to the house which is steep! Flamur came up to check the car was fine. Our two year old immediately took to them and their warm welcome. They took Albanian hospitality to the next level giving us recommendations of places to see and eat. In the evening we came back and they made us local 'mountain' tea with lemon from their garden. Delicious. This turned into a raki and evening chat on their balcony. Breakfast was all products from their family's and their own farms. Feta, tomatoes, cucumber, pomegranate and delicious damson jam. It was served on the balcony which overlooks Berat. Probably the best hosts we've ever had and that's saying something. We will never forget them and their hospitality! Faleminderit. Thank you!
