If coming from the Theth-Valbone hiking trail, definitely pay for a taxi ride from the end of the trail to the guesthouse to save yourself 2+ hours of extra walking along the riverbed and the road through the village. It is worth every cent!

This is the best place I have ever stayed! My partner was sceptical about the location being outside Valbone Village and not being close to any restaurants but I proved why I am in charge of booking the holidays! We paid €30 for a taxi from the end of the Valbone pass to the guesthouse because I knew it would be a long walk. For €15 each extra we had a massive dinner of traditional Albanian food all sourced locally. We sat in the beautiful garden looking up at the valley mountains. It was so peaceful and picturesque and a perfect way to treat ourselves after the big hike over the pass from Theth. The host was fluent in English and told us about the place and his family’s pride in serving the best ingredients to guests and keeping the garden in good order. I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here if they are looking for an authentic experience with calm and quiet after a big day hiking. Breakfast the next morning was just as exceptional as dinner, my partner raved about the petulla we had tried in Theth and the host asked his mother to make them for us the following morning and they were delicious.

Unfortunately there was no hairdryer in the room

We had a very nice time at Guesthouse Mehmeti. The two brothers who run the hotel were always on hand to help and advise us. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a good night's sleep. The location of the hotel is exceptional, in the middle of the beautiful Valbona Valley, surrounded by impressive mountains. The hotel has a small garden where you can have breakfast and dinner while watching the sun rise or set over the mountains.

Valbona is breathtaking. The house is next to a meadow oasis in the middle of the valley. The room was perfect, clean and cosy with an incredible look at the mountains. The breakfast was excellent, made of their products, served in the garden or in their dining room. Selimaj's sons floently communicate in English. We also had lunch/dinner with them and it was excellent; domestic food prepared by the mother of the family. It is an excellent starting point for many hikes in the valley and to the mountains above.

We had an amazing stay here! you can view the mountains from the window and it’s breathtaking. The staff was incredibly helpful also the breakfast was delicious everything was homemade, which they even packed for us, was a highlight. Highly recommend for a memorable experience!

It was all perfect..

Beautiful scenery,amazing evening meal and packed lunch for the hike .Had to get a taxi to the start of the hike as it was a bit too far to walk it but easily arranged through the guesthouse . My partner left his headphones in the room and the owner kindly posted them back to England for us for which we are very grateful. Definitely recommend staying here excellent all round .

It’s quite a walk to the start or end of the valbone - theth trek, so keep that in mind! But worth the walk if you ask me!

Toilet needs a little refreshing. It can be quite cold during night in the room (October).

Beautifully located in the heart of valley. Very quiet and peaceful with amazing views. Quite close to restaurant and local paths. Great local made food served by the owners. You can really feel relaxed there.

The location outside town can also be considered a drawback, as the next restaurant is 1km away, and hiking to/from this guesthouse takes extra effort (recommendation before a long hike is to have them arrange a taxi). My room was spacious, with a basic bathroom.

Great location with option to dine in the garden with superb views of the surrounding mountains. Delicious home cooked meals with most ingredients coming from the own, attached farm - dinner is a set menu. Its 3km outside town, thus much more quiet, allowing to relax after your hikes while enjoying the scenery. Hosts are super friendly and helpful.

Situated in such a beautiful wholesome area! I would sit down in complete quietude aside from the sounds of roaming chickens and cows. Not to mention the beautiful garden that they’ve maintained. The room was probably one of the cleanest i’ve stayed in. Also the breakfast was filled with fresh village cheese, milk and bread. Great friendly staff, run by a wholesome family. Highly recommend

Everything was perfect

The Mehmeti family felt like a home away from home. They really made us feel at home and cooked lunch and diner for us during our stay. The garden is beautiful and we really enjoyed relaxing in the garden with a beer and wine. I would say don’t look further and this is the only place you need to be during your stay in Valbone

A great stay for our hike from Valbone to Theth. We loved this guesthouse - rooms were very comfortable and large, food was great, owners were lovely. Be mindful that it’s a 9km walk to the start of the hike (we walked to the start - but we wanted to. The owners also offer a shuttle).

Nothing - it was great

We loved everything. Lovely room, quiet obviously as you are in the mountains, lovely lunch and then dinner (set menu - no choice), great takeaway breakfast/ lunch as we were leaving early for hiking and the owners organised a taxi for us to trailhead.
