How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

All top class. A well run Hostel in the centre of this World Heritage Site town.The owner and his lady friend were very friendly funny and also informative. The Albania breakfast was both hearty and delicious.The discerning traveller will love this brilliant hostel. A big thank you from David ( world traveller)

I've been to many hostels but this one was really one of the best. The room was super clean and so the bathroom, that was great, also towel provided. The rest of the place also super clean and shiny all the time. The beds have courtins which is great! Then the people, the managers are so polite and friendly! Thank you! And the breakfast - delicious and a great option to try something local.

Staff were all so helpful and lovely. Breakfast was fabulous Rooms well equipped and comfortable Bathroom modern and clean Lovely communal area Great recommendations We hired a car for a day from the hostel, which was much more reasonable than some other options (€30).

There was nothing not to like.
Hostel looks brand new in the middle of town. Hosts Refat and Ersina (spelling uncertain) are welcoming and available. Darcy was helpful at reception. The morning cook (didn't get her name) made fritters for breakfast. Everything was perfect. Poï the Mischievous (and very pregnant) Cat was an added pleasure ;)

The welcome was really warm. The couple who owns the hostel were very kind. They welcomed us with a shot of Raki and explained everything we needed to know. Amazing breakfast cooked by the mom. Great atmosphere that makes you feel at home. The room facilities were very good.

Staff was super friendly and helpful! Nice breakfast and clean facilities. The hostel was close to the attractions and city bus stop. Beds had curtains which added privacy.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was great with self-made pastry and vegetables. We would highly recommend staying in Hannas Hostel. It’s just some minutes to walk to the city center.

What I liked the most is the hospitality of the owner and his girlfriend. They were waiting for us with rakija, you can try different flavors and all is homemade. They also helped us with the parking. The apartment is nice, clean and spacious. Breakfast is really good and tasty, you can try something typical local. Location is very close to the center of Berat which is really worthy to visit. I definitely recommend this place and would come again. You are doing a great job, wish you all the best and hopefully see you again!

Not anything to tell here. Maybe that Poj (the cat) didnt have her litter yet so i couldnt cuddle little kittens.
Warm atmosphere with some amazing hosts. Super kind, friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Hostel beds were super comfy where you could create your own little private space.

I really enjoyed hanging out in the community room with travelers from all over the world! You get a quick explanation of the city of Berat and where to go. Super nice people trying to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Definitely would recommend!

Berat is small and the hostel is very central but quiet. I was given a good map and tips for hiking in the area. When I realized that I had forgotten my backpack on the bus from Tirana, I was helped super fast. The breakfast was delicious and had lots of options. I was there in Feb so it was still very quiet and I don't know what it's like in summer, but I can highly recommend this hostel as a female solo traveler, even in the off-season. I stayed here for two nights and that's enough to see the city and the sights in a relaxed way.

Location is perfect, right in town, great value for money, super clean and comfortable and VERY friendly owners! Felt right at home here, highly recommend for anyone staying in Berat! As a bonus sometimes there's cats around :)

One of the outdoor sitting areas is immediately next to the window of one of the dorms, so can be a little noisy if guests are up Late at night.
Hanna’s is a friendly, welcoming place. They have a generous breakfast with lots of variety including fresh fruit and Albanian staples. The staff are very helpful and supportive. The big common area is great for meeting other travellers or chilling after a day of exploring.
