Salvador is a great host

Water heater didn’t work. Stayed 2 nights and both days they had to go patch it up. Afterwards, water was burning hot and cold water didn’t work to level it up. Water leak after a bad day of rain, thankfully in the bathroom so didn’t interfere with our sleep. Check in codes when driving a car ahead of time would be helpful.

Great view. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I liked the sense of community within the staff and guests.

There is room for some improvement - beds in the dorms are quite unstable so when you move the bed shakes which is annoying - the bathroom door in my dorm was scratching on the floor when opened/closed which caused loud noises (annoying at night) - the toilet didn’t flush properly

- good location close to the lake - good breakfast (possible even outside the usual hours) - very friendly and helpful staff - well connected by bus - met amazing people there - everything was clean

The breakfast was not very diverse. The location is pretty far from the city center. The prices are pretty high during the high season.

The host was super friendly and helpful! We had a double room with shared bathroom. The room was spacious with an incredible view of the lake.

Very little sound proofing between our room and the bunk room above. Very noisy each time anyone or anything moved. Also the shared bathroom toilet door squeaks very loudly each time it is open or closed.

The property is located next to the beautiful Bonita Beach! It is super easy and close to the bus stop and within walking distance to some nice cafes and restaurants. The beds are super comfy and warm at night; however individual screen curtains would be better for more privacy. All the staff were incredibly inviting and friendly and I really enjoyed my stay here!

The main problem we felt was consistency :( . The payment was confusing to say the least. Different answers from different volunteers (same with other Alaska Patagonia). The charge included VAT 21% unless you mention it…and insist on Booking.com terms. We insisted on booking.com terms so weren’t charged 21%, but we totally understand some comments left by other guests who were charged. Breakfast wasn’t served on time every day, which was not a problem for us but left some guests without food before their departure. If you are relying on breakfast make sure to let volunteer know ahead so they can wake up on time. As for wifi, if you are here for remote work, including some video calls, I do not recommend. It is not worth the risk. There was too much uncertainty, a few power outages, and instability our month in the area. It would have been safer to stay downtown in terms of working remotely. The other hostel they have ‘Alaska Patagonia’ has much better connectivity. Don’t rely on co-working space nearby down the road. When area faces outage in will include this co-working space. Downtown was okay though during outage. The music can be quite loud, making it hard to hear people across from you, let alone a video call. Quite often we found ourselves waking up suddenly at 2am due to noise. Although we did have some days it was quite peaceful. We came during off season though. :D

We stayed for almost a full month in this area, Playa Bonita. Truly incredible location for views of the lake. Lots of activities in the area, hiking, kayak rentals, snow sports etc. We stayed nearly 3 weeks in this hostel and 1 week at another not far away (Alaska Patagonia hostel, same owner heads up ;) ) As for the property, it is difficult. We had good days and bad days. The place is run by volunteers. They are all friendly. As for facilities, always had hot water. The beds were comfy and of course wonderful view from dinning area (can see in photos). Well equipped kitchen, and home made bread for breakfast which made this hostel quite unique :D Bus stop right in front, convenient for going to other spots. Easy to reach Playa Bonita from Downtown, bus #20. Best part no question were the dogs, Coco and Borota. Super cute!!!! They will follow you to the beach, they will follow you anywhere :p . Coco loves to play catch. These dogs brought the rating higher I must admit ;)

If you're a light sleeper the noise of the cars on the busy road that runs between the hostel and the beach might be a problem. But nothing that can't be solved with some simple earplugs :)

Great location, right across from beautiful Playa Bonita and closer to the start of hiking routes around Cerro Catedral and the Circuito Chico than when you'd stay in town. Supermarket, laundry service and some nice restaurants and cervecerias a few steps away. The staff is very helpful and has a lot of information on the area. We had booked a double room but were appointed one of the cabins, which was a super nice upgrade! Would definitely stay here again.

The wooden floor was a bit noisy when moving at night, otherwise all perfect!

Everything, specially the staff, super cool people! They invited me to the typicial asado argentino just when I arrived! The atmosphere with great views over the lake was also top!!

Worth knowing a bit out of town, but close to other breweries on the bariloche cervesa trail.

The staff were exemplary! So lovely and welcoming, even gave us their bus pass so we could go on one of the walks they recommended. They were also so kind - we were there on our honeymoon and they brought us wine and chocolates which was so sweet! Wanted to share it with them they were so lovely.

Facilities were a bit run down, only one toilet working at the time. Not very clean. They charged the VAT tax illegally and never reimbursed me even though they acknowledged they shouldn't have. Not worth the money.
