Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilWhen it's their daily time of cleaning the kitchen everybody MUST leave, it doesn't matter what you are doing. I really don't get hostels that do this. You should be able to wipe the floor even if you have guests using the kitchen, for gods sake, it's not that hard and most hostels keep the kitchen open while cleaning. This is really annoying because some people were cooking or working and we all had to leave for 1-2 hours. No lockers in my room. I had to give my lugagge to staff and they kept it in a part of the hostel to which only they have access. It was okay but definitelly not ideal.
The tours they offer in the hostel are much cheaper than the ones you see on the internet or in agencies in the city center. I definitelly recommend taking a tour with the hostel, I did and it was really worth it! The beds are comfortable, internet was okay, there is a very well equipped kitchen, clean toilets. Hot showers. Warm sheets.

AustraliaThe heat was up too high overnight
The price is best in Calafate, good position near main street and supermarket. About 20min walk from bus station . Unfortunately they'd left the heater on waaay too high and we were all sweltering but the next morning they turned it down. I'd stay here again definitely.

AustraliaVery loud the walls are very thin. We stayed next to the kitchen in the private room and could hear every conversation in the kitchen.
Friendly staff, easy to book the glacier trip through. Good cooking facilities. Clean and very warm which was great considering it was freezing outside! Good location easy walk to the Main Street. Coffee was made every morning for the guests.

United KingdomBed wasn't the most comfortable & we found the kitchen closing times in the middle of the day a little limiting - but can't argue the value for money!
Nice quiet hostel only 10mins walk from the main hub of town. Kitchen was pretty well equipped. The people working there were really helpful and we booked a trip to Perito Moreno with them for much cheaper than we'd seen online.

ArgentinaThe equipment of the kitchen are old and there is not much compare to the number of guests. In despite of a warm welcoming, the hosts try to sell you all the tours and tickets and take a commission on. So you understand why there are so welcoming and try to know all of your plans. An unconfortable feeling.
The proximity with the bus terminal and center area. The rooms and bathroom are clean.

Czech RepublicWe didn't like the quiet hours of the hostel - the quiet hours start only at 23:30 and as we were in a room neighboring kitchen, even with earplugs it was difficult to manage a good sleep when people were enjoying dinner (i.e. waking up for Perito Moreno trip as 6AM).
The staff is super friendly, the location is super close to the canter of Calafate, shop is nearby, kitchen equipped. If you rent a car for a trip, it can be easily parked outside. Wi-Fi worked well.

AustraliaThis is the only hostel/hotel I've stayed in that has required payment to store luggage - and we only needed our luggage to be stored for a few hours. We stayed in the room next to the kitchen which meant it was quite noisy during peak hours. This wasn't an issue for us as the kitchen area was closed by the time we were ready for sleep but may be an issue for people who wish to sleep before 11pm. The central heating in my room was much too warm for me (in November) so I had to keep the window open a little. Not a criticism, but a heads-up to others who may be sensitive to heating.
The room was clean and comfortable. Hostel staff were helpful and friendly. Bikes were available to hire which saved us a walk into town a few times.

PolandDepends on room, mine was close to the kitchen and I could hear noises in the morning and evening (but not at night). I was waking up early anyway so wasn't bad but if someone wants to sleep longer then it would be difficult.
Hostel is located 10min walk from main street and big supermarket. Staff was very friendly. Well equipped kitchen. Small, cosy room. There was always warm in the room.

AustraliaThere was no information anywhere saying you needed to pay in cash, no cards are accepted which can be an issue unless you bring dollars or euros to change. At least you could change them at the property for a good value
Had a shared kitchen so great if you were interested in cooking. Bathroom to share among 2 rooms only in addition to other available bathrooms.

PeruThe only thing that didn't go well was booking my bus from Calafate to El Chalten. I had one of the receptionists do it for me, letting her know I was traveling TWO DAYS out, not the next day. She made the reservation for me and said it was for the date I wanted. I paid her for it as well. Welp, I arrived at the bus station the day I was supposed to travel only to find out the ticket was booked for the day before (what I explicitly stated several times I did NOT want). So I lost my ticket and had to pay for another one right there on the spot. I essentially double paid... Moral of the story: ASK FOR YOUR VOUCHER. I didn't insist on having the receptionist send me mine, and I trusted that the intermediaries booked my ticket correctly. Or just don't bother booking via the hostel and either do it online or right there at the bus station if you're traveling during off season (arrive 30 mins early).
Great location, comfy beds, hot showers. Everything you need for a nice stay in Calafate. There were some complaints about noise from the kitchen in other reviews, but I found my single room was far enough away from the kitchen to not affect my sleeping.
