Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChileBed mattress is old and not confortable, after many days hiking, you need a good bed.
Staff was very friendly, Debora and Romina are great! Location right next to the main trails (Chalten is a small town), enough space in common area, big lockers in the room.

CanadaThe dorm rooms are tight, so you'll have to take turns with your bunk mates to pack your bags (if you're doing multi-day hikes) because there won't be enough space for more than 2 people to spread out at once. There are lockers per bunk bed though, so that's helpful. But, still a small space and you're really close to the other dorm rooms as well so you hear everything. However, because it's Patagonia it seemed like almost everyone was doing early sunrise hikes so you just deal if you're not following the same schedule (it is a dorm!). If you are in one of the rooms underneath the common space, it is really noisy because you'll hear the chatter and the heavy footsteps.
The hostel is extremely close to the trailhead to the Fitz Roy + Cerro Torre circuit (like, walk out the door and it's a 5 min walk down the road). The common space is fantastic - it's actually large enough for a bunch of people to eat, relax and spread out without feeling you're shoulder to shoulder to others. There's complimentary tea in the common area, and water access so you don't have to constantly go up and downstairs to boil water. The bathroom is a basic dorm style bathroom, but it's pretty clean considering how many guests stay at this hostel. There was always staff constantly checking and cleaning the bathroom during the daytime. The showers are hot, which can't be said for every dorm-style hostel in El Chalten. It is "open" though, meaning there isn't any real privacy to change so you'll have to be comfortable changing in front of others if you're showering at the same time as someone else. There are two huge fridges to store your food, so there's plenty of space to stock up and prep for your hike(s). The kitchen stays relatively clean, outside of peak hours when everyone is cooking. The staff keep it tidy and clean afterwards, but do expect the kitchen to be messier and dirtier when lots of people are cooking. Free luggage storage was the best part!

ArgentinaLocation was pretty good, rooms quite small but clean. Bathroom was clean too and spacious. Common room was really nice and cozy. Kitchen was OK. Is an small hostel right next to his big brother Rancho Grande. In my opinion the price is a bit high for what it is.

AustriaThe hostel has basically no insulation so when it's cold outside it's also cold inside the hostel and so during our stay they didn't turn on the heating system.

United KingdomThe kitchen was good enough, maybe a bit small if everyone is cooking at one time. Also, it wasn't very well equipped, ie loads of pans but no cooking utensils. We also had issues with temperature- one night freezing cold- however the next day we asked for heating to be put on and staff came and sorted immediately.
Perfect location to start the fitz roy trail! Nice hot showers, spacious shower room. Rooms were nice, we paid for a dorm but happened to get a twin bunk room for just us out of luck which was good too. It has a lovely communal area upstairs with comfy sofas etc so great for meeting other travellers. Also this hostel let's you store luggage and shower even after checkout which is great if you only have one night to do fitz roy hike. Great staff , helpful and attentive.

United KingdomI do not like the high bunk beds with no rail to stop you falling out (this is dangerous!!), no curtain for privacy, and no light or socket by the bed. And a lockable drawer or cupboard to store valuables. These are standard hostel things really.
