How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Some of the best hostel beds I’ve ever slept in! Also one of the best free breakfasts I’ve seen offered at a hostel. There were also two friendly dogs.

This hostel felt really homely and all the staff team were very welcoming - they were friendly, professional, and willing to help wherever they can. The hostel is in a great location with supermarkets, bars, restaurants and local attractions all nearby (walkable). Very useful having the kitchen facilities for cooking and a large fridge came in handy. There is a roof terrace to chill out on too. Great hostel for being social, and there is a book swap.

Only 4 bathrooms for amount of guests isn’t enough. Staff also left our doors open (on ground floor) all day, and our head torches went missing…
Good atmosphere, staff very friendly, good breakfast.

It is a very basic hostel but at £5 a night that seems fair - 3/4 of the showers are pretty small and one is good size, but having seen other reviews I wouldn’t say they were dirty - just could do with upgrading and in some cases better ventilation! The beds are also pretty cheap sponge and the room we were in was next to a quite noisy road. At the end of the day though you have to just decide if you want to spend less money or not!
Really nice sociable vibe from breakfast in the morning to chilling on the rooftop in the afternoon, to wine happy hour and Super Bowl evenings! Made it so easy to meet other travellers. The staff, including Felix and Dario, were super friendly and helpful too!

Clean, but older bedsheets. Unstable bunk beds for a person of 188cm 85kg.
Good value for money. Very close to the bus terminal. Good breakfast options.

Cleaner came in and told us to check out at 9.40 when check out was at 10am Very basic hostel! No privacy curtains. Grand for one night

Bathrooms were small and dirty. At least one shower flat out does not work. The reception plays loud music until about 11pm which is really not needed (although a lot of south american hostels seem to do this) especially when many dorm rooms have doors right off the reception. Some light from the reception came through our door through the night although I personally didn't mind. Also no locks on the dorm rooms - so we put all our valuables in the (pretty spacious) lockers instead.
The beds in the dorm room were very comfortable- some of the best sleep we've had! We had a dorm of 4 and it was clean and had good sized lockers. There was aircon and a fan. The roof terrace is a really nice and peaceful place to sit, with a laundry line, table football, and sofas and chairs. You can buy beer and wine in the hostel and enjoy on the balcony which we loved. Breakfast was pretty good and the staff were friendly and helpful!

Facilities were not very good, old building, old furniture. Cleanness were an issue. Bed was not comfy. Bathrooms were small, difficult to move around, and have a shower. They were also not clean.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good, not far from the bus station, close to supermarkets and restaurants.

All were good for a hostel.
The breakfast was good than other hostels with good variety. The beds and pillows especially were very comfy. The personnel in the reception were brilliant, very helpful and explained what activities to do and where to go. Overall, very good experience. Would stay again.

Facilities are in need of deep cleaning and updating. The place is very run down. Furniture, bedsheets, bathrooms, kitchen, common areas all need an update. A fresh coat of paint wouldn’t hurt either. They could have a great space if they did.
Staff was nice, accommodating to our needs.

Dirty, two dogs running around, peeing on the terrace and leaving hairs all over sofas and chairs as well as disturbing whilst eating. As well as cockroaches in the bathroom. I was put into a noisy room next to the main street and the common area which made it even more noisy, the tours which were advertised are all spanish speaking even though the hostel implies their English speaking, instead Google English speaking tours and find one that way.
Breakfast was good, staff friendly and English speaking and good location

It’s very loud do to the streets so you can’t sleep for too long
Very well located, only 5 minutes walking distance from bus station and city centre. Staff is very kind
