How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A small thing, but could've done with an info book on where outside bin was; how hob worked etc. It was lovely to sit out in the garden, but it was a bit unkempt.
Staff were very receptive with any queries. Location was fabulous, lots of great pubs and restaurants in close walking distance.

No instructions within the property. Not sure where the e-bikes were, we looked but couldn’t find them. No fly screens so was concerned about mosquitoes. Coffee pods but no milk provided. Supermarket was close by.

Bathroom needs a renovation urgently. We found and had to kill 4x Cockroaches during our 2 days stay. There were traps around the house so looks like a long standing problem. Definitely something to look at as it is quite disgusting.
Great location. Super cute little house in the heart of Paddington. One bus away from all the attractions.

The outside area is shabby. Grass is not cut, paved areas not swept. Was not appealing to go out there at all.
Location was great. Access was easy. Communication from host was excellent.

Parking was not great it is a permit parking area, we were lucky this trip but may need to look at other parking in the future.
Awesome, comfortable little place with plenty of room for 5 guests. Everything you need is supplied for your stay. So close to entertainment, coffee, food, and a short walk to football stadium. The area is perfect for a walk with plenty to see and do.

It was not possible to air the rooms properly.
Perfect little house in Paddington. We decided to go to Sydney several days earlier than we planned so we found this perfect spot. It seems that the house was just renovated recently. It has lovely courtyard where you can relax with the coffee. You can walk to the city if you want. We very enjoyed all these little lanes with Victorian houses, small shops, art galleries and great atmosphere.

Host is very easy to contact same as the check in process. Location is accessible to nearby shops and public transportation. Would be nice if we were able to extend our check out time :)

The property was not cleaned properly when we checked in. The floor was very dirty; the garden was full of wet leaves; the windows still had spider webs; the dishwasher and washing machine were not working properly, and some facilities and equipment were not prepared as listed in the description. The kitchen was way too small for two people standing and cooking together (definitely would only suit those who stay here without cooking most of the time)
The area is super lovely, with local coffee and indie shops, and it is super close to the CBD. The host was quite responsive at times

The mattresses were uncomfortable. There was a base, but it felt like I was sleeping on a mattress on the floor. There was no air conditioning. The pedestal fans provided were temperamental (one would phase in and out making it hard to sleep). The living area smelt like pet urine and damp. There was a living cockroach in the bathroom. The bathroom was very small and basic. There were no basic amenities provided like milk. The curtains in the front room don’t close completely and are secured with a peg. The rear glass door did not feel secure.
The location was good.
