Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustraliaA/c fan was blowing full blast over my head in bed. Couldn’t adjust. No milk or sugar for tea/coffee. Bed was rolling around on wheels.
TV reception good. Clean bathroom. Good towels. Comfortable bed. Bedside reading light. Lots of room for luggage. Free banana bread and coffee and tea. Good glasses for drink Olin room. Good microwave for heating up take away meal. Close to central station.

AustraliaThe room we were put in initially with the aircon blasting cold air. It would still be nice to have a couple of coffee and tea sachets in the room since there is a jug/cups etc if you don't feel like going down to the foyer.
All the staff were so accommodating and friendly. We were staying with our 4 month old and were initially put in a room with broken aircon (blasting cold air into the room even though thermostat was set to 30). After explaining that this was too cold for our baby they were able to find us another room. The new room was slightly bigger which was super helpful as they provided us a cot for bub and we also had suitcases with us so made it easier to move around the room. Drink facilities in the foyer with complimentary breakfast "on the go" (muffins etc) - this was really nice to grab a drink and something to eat before heading out for the day. Location is fantastic.

New Zealandlocation is a little far to the centre (for me), 30 minutes walking to wesfield. room is small, and AC is just on top of my bed and the cool air is just directing to my head. No view.

Perfect location - incredibly easy to get around Sydney from the hotel. Staff were very pleasant. Considering that it's right next to the railway station, it was very pleasantly quiet.

I didn't realise until a good while after check in that I had to use my card for the lift/access the lights in my room and even then struggled for a bit before I got used to it

United StatesThe walls/door to the hallway were quite thin (we could hear our neighbors late into the night/early morning when they were talking loudly or walking by our room). The bathroom did not have a fan (or at least we could not figure out how to turn it on if it existed).
The location was fantastic, less than 5 minute walk to Central station - this made it so easy to get everywhere we wanted to go, including to/from the airport. The pastries for breakfast and 24/7 coffee/tea available in the lobby were very much appreciated. The room size was much bigger than expected, plenty of space for us.
