Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

AustraliaCheck in was very frustrating! I opted for the online check in as the alternative was to arrange a specific time to meet someone at another location before arriving at the property. I had to make an account for a third party platform and entered the same information multiple times. Right at the end of the process I was charged a $6 fee for using the platform! This was not communicated at the beginning of the process which took a good 10 minutes. To cap it all off, I was then charged an international transaction fee by my bank! I do not feel the cost of using this platform should be passed onto the guest. At the very least, the property managers should have been upfront about the cost right from the beginning of the process. I also had to download a dodgy looking app to access the check in information (property address, lockbox code, etc.). Overall, a very poor check in experience. The house was also very unclean. The floors were filthy like they had not been mopped for months. Many of the dishes in the cupboards were unwashed - we found cups filled with mould and mugs and chopping boards caked with old food. We found rubbish in the kitchen cupboards. There was a bag of fish in the freezer which smelled terribly, and made any food we stored in the freezer stink as well. We had an issue with one of the bedrooms where the lightbulb had blown, not realising until the evening. When it was reported the next day, the managers were responsive but there was no communication about when maintenance would arrive to fix it or if it would be done before we checked out the next day. Someone arrived the same day it was reported to fix it, however we were out and there was no communication that they were coming, so the tools were left by the door for us to fix ourselves.
You cannot beat the location of this property. Directly across from the beach with beautiful views of the ocean from the balcony and catches the sea breeze. There's also a great cafe a short walk up the road and the neighbours either side were very quiet. The back yard is huge - great for lawn games, kids and pets. The bathroom is renovated, clean and functional. The house has a lovely charm with wood floors and the balcony is gorgeous.

AustraliaCould have been vacuumed better as sand was still under the mat and couch in living area that was not ours. Wiping cloths would have been great to keep kitchen clean as that as not included with the cleaning spray that was there. Trampoline was there that was not shown in booking. No net around it and has a concrete wall next to it so quite dangerous for children would prefer to have it removed.
Great location decent size house and spacious rooms. Massive Garden. Uninterrupted views of the beach. 5-10min walk to the nearest coffee shop which sells the best patisseries. Close to everything would defo stay again.

AustraliaOverall we were quite disappointed with our stay. However there were some major issues. The trampoline mat covering the springs wouldn't stay down, so the kids needed constant help and supervision on the trampoline. The oven didn't work. The gas bottle on the BBQ was empty. The utensils available were old and difficult to use (one pan was almost rounded underneath, another everything would stick even with oil). The remote, and the door bell chime on the wall had exposed batteries, another risk to the children. The beds were also very uncomfortable but in comparison to the other issues, this wasn't a big deal. We were very appreciative of the coffee laundry soap, and dishwashing liquid provided The mat in the living room was filthy so we washed it. So when it was washed the water was brown. I don’t think it has ever been washed previously.
The location was beautiful and the house was very pretty. The backyard was massive and the kids loved the trampoline.
