Our room was a little noisy from the sound of next doors aircon fans. Our window opened onto a U shaped service duct. I understand there are rooms ending in even numbers that will avoid this. Talk to the hotel staff about this when booking.

Adelaide Paringa does not pretend to be a luxury hotel and not all of us want that. If you are on a budget this is a sensational hotel in a sensational location. Step out of the hotel and you find yourself in Gilbert Place, look left; you see the famous Pancake Kitchen, walk right a few metres and step on to nightlife hotspot "Hindley Street". On the corner is a great cafe from there a short walk sees you on the famous Bee Hive Corner. Festival Centre, Cricket Ground, Rundle Mall and notable CBD landmarks and parks are all in walking distance. The hotel can help organise tours and shuttle to the airport. Heather on the front desk was fantastic. We arrived late and the intercom support for the after hours entry was brilliant. There was a small issue with the bathroom and the hotel responded promptly in the morning when I requested service. The room was clean and comfortable and equipped with iron and the standard hotel fare. You can semi self cater, down stairs is a toaster and a microwave that can be accessed during staffed reception hours. Bring your own bread and butter etc.

Noisy air conditioning. We mentioned this on our departure and it was attended to that day as a maintenance person was on site. First time using the shower a lot of bubbles formed in the water indicating it was clean but the cleaning product not rinsed off.

Room was basic but it’s what we paid for. Wasn’t expecting anything else. Received heart shaped chocolates on our pillows on arrival and was also able to check in early. Reception staff was very friendly and informative.

There was an air freshener plugged into a socket which had a terrible sickly smell. No microwave to heat up food.

No microwave, The single bed had no back so it was very uncomfortable. Pillows kept falling off and you couldn't sit up in bed and as my sister was sick she had a hard time getting comfortable. The noise from surrounding clubs and venues kept us awake some nights. Thank you for the ear plugs.

It is a bit grotty with lots of little quirks, such as - telly didn’t work - used soap in the shower from previous guest - couldn’t for the life of us find the main light switch - one ply loo paper - cheap pillow and not a very comfy bed - lack of power sockets - noisy pipes which we initially thought was someone groaning None of them were a dealbreaker but it was a pretty basic, a bit spooky, type of place.

The property is central, and although they warned us about the street noise, and supplied earplugs, we didn’t experience any of this as we were staying mid-week. The staff on reception were lovely.

Check in procedure was a bit scary as we couldn’t reach them over the phone for a while and we thought we won’t be able to get in. But worked well at the end.

The carpet was stained and smelt mouldy. Bathroom shower tap handle dropped off when you turned it.

Loved the old building and laneway. Central location. Wonderful staff who made us feel at home.

The shower needs a screen or curtain, as water went everywhere. The spa didn't work.
