How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was very hot in the room and the two fans (ceiling and tower) didn’t do much at all. Very noisy laneway below the windows with two gates opening/closing all night.

The bathrooms are filthy and don't seem to be cleaned more than once a week, which is not often enough for a shared bathroom. One bathroom on my floor was out of order and the other one was extremely dirty, with an overflowing trash bin that was not emptied during the ~24h I was there. The one on the level below was also very not welcoming. I do appreciate the hostel being more on the green side with no extra room cleaning or single use shampoos but I don't think it means not cleaning shared spaces, such as bathrooms, regularly.
Great location, lovely staff. The room was clean and adequate.

Took 30 mins to get inside to check in. Made at least 10 calls and wouldnt answer

no ac in rooms and fans dont spin fast was barely any toilet paper and didnt notice till 10pm was very hot and could hear homeless people argueing from window at night which had to be left open due to so hot

My room was on the noisy side of the building and very hot in the summer. Dropped something and it rolled under the bed... it was quite filthy under there.
The central location is great - easy to get around in the CBD with a CAT right at the doorstep of the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The security is also very good. Clean bathrooms. It is an old building. The bathrooms were renovated to a good standard. But this means no AC, which is understandable. Sooo... I would not suggest you stay there in summer at all - my room was facing the busy road and to sleep, I had to close the window as the sirens and noise made it impossible for me to sleep. But then it is too hot ! (Saying that, the closed window was VERY effective to keep noise out! And they gave me a fan to try and help.) If there are rooms on the other side of the building away from the road, this would be a GREAT budget option. Stayed there mainly due to budget restrictions.

During my stay I did not see any staff. Therefore there was a very anonymous atmosphere. The code for the keybox was sent too late per email (while I was on my flight), so I had, in panic, to phone to get access to my prepaid room.
Bus stop for the free city bus in front of the hotel balances the situation on the fringe of the inner city with few facilities (restaurants etc.). Comfortable rooms-

Reasonable price and so can’t expect more for the value of money.
perfect for solo travellers who mostly utilise the time for day trips and use the property for taking rest. Tidy single room with good toilet.

check in had to call someone to get someone to let me in and check in not exactly what youd expect for a 1pm check in room was ok had dried paint over carpet there was no elevator so had to haul my luggage up the stairs

few restrictions like can’t eat anything inside your room. when walking on the floor inside the room , lot of cracking wood noise, would have been with out that noise.

The toilet paper in my room was nearly empty and no extra toilet paper it was the only thing I didn't like there.
The check in and checkout was easy the kitchen and everything was great. Steve who works there was down to earth and very welcoming and friendly which was great.

It is what it is.
Look this is a budget hotel so you get what you pay for. If you want a flashy bathroom etc then go somewhere else. This place is basic with a basic price. Somewhere to put your head down? Perfect.
