It's quirky - worked for us but be aware it's not just another motel.

Allawah Bendigo is right slap bang in the best part of Bendigo. It has parking and is nicely done, though as an older property turned into a guest house it isn't just a standard motel.

The noise in beer garden. I wasn’t aware of one when booking and the language from the patrons was quite appalling. Only issue, everything else was perfect.

Access to the room was obscure and not well explained at the very back of a lane way a fair way from the reception area. No light was available to punch in the security code to access the entrance area leading to the room. Difficult

Bit hard to find room number but once found was fine. Pillows on bed could do with improvement but bedding and mattress very comfortable.

The door code didn't work and we thought we were going to be stuck outside. I was quite a problem as we arrived at 10pm. It took 2 phone calls but we had to sort it ourselves....

I love the location and sitting on the veranda with a coffee or a drink or just doing some work.

The windows faced onto the beer garden and the curtains didn’t feel quite adequate in terms of blockout/privacy. At night particularly it felt like people could see in which made me feel a little uncomfortable.

Great vibe - authentic old style pub/lodgings. Excellent value. Friendly staff.

The noise from the people coming from the wine bar and walking out past the rooms. But that wasn't consistent and it didn't last for long.

Confusing entry from Main Street plus two different addresses advertised ( which is with rear alleyway to car parking lane . Didn’t appreciate hearing people’s conversations outside our window plus loud music which belonged to the wine cellar shop/ entrance and connected to maisonette . I was suffering from migraine and the very noisy musings did not help - it turned of close to 10pm We were not advised that this was the way it’s operated. Good for super young people but for us seniors was very uncomfortable..the migraine didn’t help but one expects to lye in bed and sooth the migraine !

All of the stairs to get to the balcony rooms, especially the last four with no hand rail. The pillows were too soft - no support at all. Other guests on the Friday night were quite loud. I'd like a lamp on both bedside tables. The wifi was not discoverable which wasn't a problem for me as I have a great plan with Amaysim so I did not mention it to staff. The bathroom sink is ridiculous. The faucet hangs well into the basin so it gets in the way of everything and was extremely annoying. The room gets stuffy - couldn't see any windows to crack open, but that could have just been me.

The balcony room #4 was semi quiet. When I book a room this is generally my number one priority. Not only was the kitchenette supplied with all cooking utensils etc, it also had salt and pepper, as well as dishwashing soap, sponges and tea towels, which are all often overlooked, so I appreciated that touch. The bed was immaculately made and somewhat comfy (erring on the hard side). For two nights, in the fabulous location it is set in, I will definitely be booking Allawah Bendigo again in the future. PS, the Wine Bank has wine tasting nights on Wednesdays (I arrived on a Thursday, but this is something interesting of note).

Pillows were terrible - flat, limp and lumpy. The noise from the pizza bar below and staff cleaning up was disruptive until around 11pm. Tight bathroom space, better to keep door open.

Lovely location behind the wine bar, in Bendigo. Easy, onsite free parking was appreciated. Watching the bats at night from the balcony eating gelato was a highlight. Dinner at the wine bar was scrumptious.
