Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe booked for callana cottage but was told they upgrade us to the euro cottage as the a.c. were better than the original we booked. But euro cottage, although spacious, the a.c. cant cope with the heat..one of the room not even have a ceiling fan , so we ended using the other room with th a.c. and fan.. And can do a bit of clean, understand that its dusty place, but the inside of the cottage can do a bit of clean. We found a big spider in the room where we slept. We opted for wifi, but its signal isnt great.
We loved the ruggedness , the remoteness of the place, the friendly staffs. When we arrived we were so tired so decided to have a meal at the bar, food was ok, quite surprised the salads are fresh as. $30 for a meal but its a buffet. The staffs are accommodating. We like the mountain view from our cottage. The 4wd driving..

AustraliaRemember, you are coming to a remote part of the world, so facilities reflect those challenges of running a resort in the outback. We went early new year which is low season w fewer than usual staff. (omicron was 100000 in Sydney) Summer heat means some walking and 4WD tracks are closed. Go w the guides! The staff make a decent coffee and the warmth they exude more than compensates for any high culinary expectations. Accomodations are slowly being upgraded. Booking.com does not reflect that. Go with the top rooms as they have new bathrooms. Callitris rooms are being updated this year, 2022.
We traveled to Arkaroola for the dark sky experience. The staff are warm and love their place. The observatories are amazing and just sitting outside for dark sky star gazing is extraordinary. Doug is a beautiful human being and it’s an experience I will always remember.

AustraliaNot the fault of the people at Arkaroola Resort, but a big pity that the road from Blinman is all gravel. Asphalt road would be so much better. Some longer easy dedicated cycling trails would be good. The astronomy night was good, but the speaker was far too technical for most people's understanding
Very unique location. Ridge Top Tour is an absolute must. Very much appreciated the quick tyre repair. The astronomy infrastructure was amazing (observatory, telescopes, big screens etc) Food was great.

AustraliaThe only complaint (if you can call it that) would be the quality of the beds...they were quite firm. The cottage however was very well equipped!
This is a very special location, having been there about 25 years ago (I worked there for a few months after a year of uni). The staff were fantastic (John in particular) and the tours are a must-do! We were happy to go on our own self-guided bushwalks both around the village and just out, we did both the Ridgetop and Echo Camp tours, enjoyed the astronomy session one night and also went up in a plane (Lake Frome & Arkaroola) with Doug. You really need to get out and about when visiting Arkaroola to appreciate the staggering beauty of the northern flinders ranges, but also to hear the wealth of knowledge that Doug in particular has of this place. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious! For a very remote part of Australia, the quality of the food was second to none. Arkaroola has a very relaxed vibe , possibly due to it being a family run business for so long? After our stay, we spent a couple of nights at Wilpena Pound resort and whilst the room/accommodation was considerably nicer, it lacked the atmosphere and 'feel'. So much so, that we checked out a day early. Arkaroola in comparison kept us all very happy for 3 days/3 nights - which is saying something because we were travelling with our 15 and 19yo young men!

AustraliaWe wandered around the main complex eg the old museum cottage, barbeque area near the swimming pool, rock displays inside and out etc and could tell by looking at the state of them that Covid with less tourists , plus maybe the drought , had had a negative effect on the upkeep of things which was understandable but sad.
We made our own breakfast and lunch and ate dinner two nights in the restaurant. We were very impressed with the extremely helpful waitress , and the chef`s cooking of the dishes we ordered was exceptional. We also enjoyed the Ridgetop Tour with its amazing views and the commentary of our driver.

AustraliaThe cottage was reasonably clean. But then, Arkaroola is a dry and dusty place.
Callana Cottage was spacious and conveniently located a short walk from the hub of all the services. We dined in the restaurant for 4 nights, and found the food to fresh and of a high quality, with lots of variety on offer. Tours are highly recommended, and conducted by friendly and knowledgeable staff.

AustraliaThe walls of the rooms, in the building with the common dining area and kitchen, were so thin we could hear our neighbors snoring. Nothing that ear plugs couldn’t fix, though.
We absolutely loved the Ridgetop Tour and the Astronomy Tour! Staying at the building with the common dining area and kitchen was the right price at the right time. We loved the huge photo murals and other photos in the common area!

Australia- bedroom window didn’t have any lock and just swing freely: security problem - tiny bench in kitchen: no prep space - shower glass too small to protect the floor from getting wet during a shower - really cold: needs insulation, and the small AC couldn’t bring room up to comfortable - we ran the column heater all night
- well equipped (kitchen) - nicely private - good size space - you need to bring your own water - 100kms of provate 4WD tracks to explore - arrive by 5pm to see wallaby feeding onsite, do the astronomy tour, do the 4WD tour Access is via 150 kms of dirt road: check ahead for road quality, bring the right, prepared vehicle.and drive to conditions

AustraliaThere is no television and, despite it being promoted, no internet access in the rooms. The only internet was available in the restaurant area. No phone access for Vodafone users. We arrived on the night that they had a BBQ instead of the restaurant being opened. While it tasted nice it was very expensive at $40/ head
The room was a great size, and the location was excellent. We went on the Ridgetop tour which I would highly recommend. Breakfast was included in our package and it was a generous continental one. All meals can be purchased from the restaurant. We wanted to go to the night time Observatory tour but it was booked out by 12 o’clock when we arrived so it is best to book in advance. The heating worked well.
