How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Just a little out dated, but for the price of the Room can not complain.
Good location, close to Paddys Market and Darling Harbour. A short walk to the Light Rail on George St.

Beware of the taxi drivers,they rip you off...my taxi driver said the trip to Central station was $11.95, and after I scanned my card,and checked my bank he charged me $31.95 For a one kilometres drive.....scam

At first, parking wasn't available ('all full'). This had changed by the time we arrived which was positive. At 4am a smoke alarm went off and 2 fire engines arrived. Some guests went out into the street. Rather off-putting.
Good reception staff response to needs and requests. Good bed and room size. Location positive for transport and access to restaurants and Sydney places of interest. Given a late check-out which was good.

Glass doors onto balcony needed a good window wash but apart from that everything was good.
Easy to walk to city and surrounds. Very quiet at night. Staff very friendly and helpful.

You could hear the people in the room next door with ease. A fan should always be in the bathroom however there was not one.
We loved the very decent bathroom bench space. Bed was fairly comfortable, overall good value for money.

noisey . other travellers made a lot of noise after 10pm -3 am. I had to thump on the wall several times so people next to us could keep quiet

Somehow a bit noisy, but perhaps because it was over the long weekend? I could hear other guests all the time, once at 3am when they decided to chat loudly in the hallway. Also loud banging noises from outside every day at the same time.
Really spacious room, very clean, lovely staff.

I was sent an email that said I had an early check in of 1pm and a late check out of 12pm but was not given this. When I asked about it, it seemed to be brushed off as something they didn't do.
The hotel was clean and tidy. It was an easy walk to Darling Harbour and lots of restaurants.

Its a hidden gem - older style - keep your perspective in balance
Early room availability, and customer service: staff readily offered umbrellas for the downpour and made the room available on arrival before midday.

Location very close and in walking distance to Chinatown and other attractions on the southern side of the Sydney CBD. Rooms neat and clean with a comfortable bed.

Balcony Glass Door Flithy, hard to see things outside It would be 10/10 if pillows were good standards, looks like cheap Kmart pillows and most disappointing thing is cafe just opened from Thursday till Sunday

Option to order sparkling wine on arrival. Was given to me warm and no wine glasses in room.
Convenient location and good sized room for our short stay. Comfortable stay and nice breakfast. 24/7 reception handy too.

The shower head could be removable.

The lights/switches were a bit crazy. Some worked and some didn’t. You could have the room light on without the bathroom light and fan.

My only comment is, they do not give out free bottled water, which I personally am used to staying in different parts of the world.
I think the hotel is good. Room is well laid out.

Should make details of possible dinner options freely available for all room users not just people familiar with QR codes. Promote the neighbourhood. Provision of beer at front desk great but concept of opening there then taking to your room - not great. Put a bottle opener on door to fridge. Or only sell beer with twist top.
Location excellent for Sydney Uni - good exercise to walk there/back. Quiet environment benefical to a good sleep. Freont desk personnel very polite and helpful.
