Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaCouldn’t fault the place but there are always personal details everyone wants. Ice trays. You could fit three small ones in the small freezer. After mountain biking all day we came back to no cold water on our arrival. Also needed some ice for our cocktails for the evening. We bought a bag of ice but much of this was wasted as we couldn’t fit in ice box. A table near the bbq to put things on while cooking would be good as we were balancing things on the railing. Spiderwebs and spiders. There are quite a few spiderwebs inside and out. This is a cabin in the bush. If you are scared of spiders check your robes before putting on and in other spots as I grabbed the robe and a huge huntsman was hanging out behind it. We are not scared of spiders, so didn’t bother us. Bluetooth speaker would be good too. Groceries. Nearest main grocery store is Donnybrook 30km away. Come with provisions as there is nothing around for dinner.
Everything was excellent. The spa, the location, the grounds, the cabin, the comfort, the ambience inside and out, personal bbq, attention to detail and practicalities like a table near the spa and robes. We have stayed at 100s of places around the world for business and holidays and this was in our top list of places to stay. Really relaxing and enjoyable stay, you won’t want to leave the cabin. If they had a pool you wouldn’t.

AustraliaWe stayed at summer time and so small insects abounds and may get inside the cottage but it's nothing that can't be solved by insect spray or just accept them and make it part of the experience! 😊 The single Aircon unit is in the living area and so in summer, the bedroom doors may need to be open when sleeping at night to get the cool air coming in to the rooms. No other negative reviews aside from these very minor but solvable dislikes.
Great location and setting. Great cottage design. Well presented and clean inside and out. Attention to details. Beds are comfortable, showers and taps are working well. Fully equipped kitchen and good amount of crockery for a family of 4. well maintained surroundings. And most of all Lynn was very friendly an quick to respond to requests/queries/needs. Overall our stay was a great experience and fuss free. I would recommend Jalbrook cottages for a relaxing holiday in Balingup and surrounds.

AustraliaThe only fault was that we read “fully equipped kitchen” so packed a home made lasagne for dinner one of the evenings, only to discover no oven! There was a BBQ, microwave and stove top though and really, it’s my own fault for not checking!
Absolutely stunning property, gorgeous grounds, beautifully appointed units, very clean. Happened to be there during a thunder storm and watched it all unfold from the spa which was just amazing. The bed was very comfortable, excellent shower water pressure. Jim and Lynn were so welcoming and gave us the quick run down of the unit and then just left us to it.

AustraliaPoor phone reception however this did make us enjoy our down time more. More than 1 tea towel would have been a good idea and maybe a platter in the Kitchen would have helped with serving guests. But these didn’t hinder our enjoyment of the property

We loved and appreciated all the small details. The breakfast basket, stocked fridge, chocolate near the bed, bathrobes, heated spa, heated bathroom towel rack, sufficient firewood stock, and our fire being prepared in preparation for our late check in/arrival. Wonderful and helpful customer service from Lyn. Very pretty and well kept grounds/property Great location. Perfect holiday weekend

AustraliaThey have installed some device on the ceiling which has a white light that cannot be turned off (no switch or anything written in the stay instructions). At night it is basically a night light that illuminates the whole cottage. Very difficult to get any sleep so zero star rating. I have stayed in these cottages many times without any problems until now, I will be looking elsewhere for a quality getaway as now it is not worth the money. Anyone staying in Rosella needs to take black duct tape or a swag to sleep on the verandah with the possums.
During the day it was a pleasant stay, quiet and relaxing. 5 stars for that.

AustraliaDidn't like the fact that we were told when we were 40min out of Perth out of a 3hr drive on the way down, when we called to say we were going to be a bit late that they tried to contact us earlier in the week and that our payment had not gone through and had cancelled our booking after I had gotten a email confirmation saying it did go through. Admittedly I did see that the payment had not gone through when we spoke to the Lynn on the way down, but what was frustrating that I was told that the contact no. and email they were given was incorrect. I did book through booking.com and on there it does show my correct contact details as I got the Booking Confirmation on my email, so I'm not sure what happened there. In the end Lynn did get it sorted for us but this did cause some stress and disappointment on my partner at the time especially when we didn't get the room we were after and the spa wasn't working. Beside the negative here it is a lovely place to stay and will eventually get back there at some stage.
Nice clean rooms with a lovely bush view with a lovely feel/vibe. There was a nice breakfast basket on arrival and lovely Native arrangement on the end of the bench. There's a nice small town at the end of the road and other small towns not to far away if you would want to do a day trip here or there.

Australiawe have been many times before with previous owners and there was so much love and attention to detail. sadly the new owners have let things go. only 1 bed had electric blanket. light in bathroom and at front porch didn’t work. dirty pots. spa was over chlorinated we got asthma from it. only 2 small tubes of shampoo ect for 4 adults for 3 nights. cheap coffee (for the price u pay to stay). previous owners gave the most beautiful complimentary breakfast - non of that this time. we were disappointed.
the gardens are still beautiful
