I think what I didn't like about the property the most was the cleanliness overall. It didn't seem like the place had been vacuumed for ages, the house from the outside didn't look inviting either with the unkept lawn and trees. Bathroom and toilet shared which were again not the cleanest and didn't smell very nice. Extension leads and powerboards on the ground haphazardly. Can't really recommend it except unless you haven't got a roof over your head and that's the only nearest option available.

Location was good for my purpose. Working Wifi. Plus space available for car parking on the road. Towels and shampoo etc. provided plus oil heater in room.

The Building itself is very old and smell comes all the time as it comes from the old building. The room was a little bit clean but great mess under the beds. The toilet and shower facilities are not organized well. The basic infrastructure is very old and outdated. However, host is good and tries to help out.

Health and safety a major concern. The house at 98 Doncaster road is very old. The electrical standard is not up to modern days. Several power leads go from several PowerPoints to various rooms and locations. There is only one smoke detector I could find. A 5 bedroom home. Please contact me I have photos and more information . Location was perfect. Just outside of tram stop and you go straight into Melbourne on tram 48 no worries . The lady manager there could not speak English properly or at all and seemed Chinese .She had great difficulty with any request because she as if she did not understand.

I don't believe I stated a preference for a quiet room, but if I did it was accidental. The photos looked like a different place to when I turned up. The staff on the phone were great and very accommodating and welcoming, but the communication of bedroom allocation was very ordinary, with me needing to call and text to track down. In the end i didn't get the room I was supposed to, though it was offered to me after I had left my stuff in another room. All I needed was somewhere to sleep, and I wouldn't have cared less about anything else, but the bed in the room I was in felt like sleeping on a pallet-rack - it was hard with no give at all.

I chose that over others due to a slightly smaller price. This was the only good thing in the end.

I was given a bathroom option that had no working toilet- big sign on the door not to use - owner refuses to give refund this is not acceptable Also the place was not vacuumed- the blanket on the side table was grubby - the whole place is nothing like the pictures advertised- it is dark and dreary some of the lights don’t work- it is so run down- it smells dusty and the front porch smells of stale urine - probably because of the toilet not working some have used the front porch- i left immediately as i could not stay with my children in this place -even my dog got diarrhoea in my car after leaving there

I couldn’t afford the risen prices set by hotels this week and I needed to travel for business and was under the impression where I am staying would be like a hostel and I stayed in a similar type of situation at a heritage hospital a month prior. Firstly I haven’t spotted a single fire alarm yet, there are fire hazards everywhere. Lights have open wires on the sockets. And you have to jiggle them sometimes for them to work. Along with every other room being powered by 5 extension cords weaving through the house over carpet. I remember seeing a review of someone saying they found one so they’re could’ve been one but I didn’t see any. (I don’t know if this was referring to the thing that’s just outside the kitchen on the wall above the door to the room that’s just before the back door but if that was the fire alarm, you can count the building as not having one because that thing looked like it was from the 50s or something.) The owners never clean the rooms. The only things they clean are a white sheet they put on top of the other blanket that hasn’t been cleaned and has what looks to be pee stains on them. Who knows what it is but I’ve attached a photo. I had to have a friend bring me sheets. The carpets are filthy and stained with red, brown and other colours of stains and never vacuumed. There are spider webs and cob webs everywhere. Also huntsmen spiders. I also found a used, moldy bong (used to smoke weed) in my room behind a cockroach infested art piece in my room which I picked up to see if there were more roaches behind it and that’s how I found that. I CANNOT MAKE THIS UP.

Honestly the only good thing was the fact that there were like every single type of body wash available to man next to the shower. Not sure what was there if there was shampoo too but there were a lot of things. Same with condiments in the kitchen. Not sure id use any of these or the age of them but yk.

A COMPLETE RIP OFF The carpet was completely stained, the walls were dirty, the bed sheets had a blood stain, the window could not even be touched because of the filth. There were bugs like cockroaches coming out of a grate in the room. The kitchen was also full of bugs and a lot of dirt. When we realised that there were bugs we called the owner/manager and she told us that she couldn't do anything because it was too late. Very poor service. When we arrived there was a crackhead in our room. The host, who didn't speak a word of English, had to get her out. We asked for a refund but he refused, saying he wasn't the boss. The floor was dirty and the atmosphere in the house very gloomy. There was a terrible smell in the house. Run away from this place!

The rooms were VERY musty. In fact, we had two people with disabilities who suffered breathing problems less than 15 minutes after arriving. The windows either can't be opened or need to be propped open. Inside window frames are covered in spiderwebs and cobwebs, mould and dirt. The walls are peeling and mouldy. The carpets and curtains are torn in multiple places. I know it's cheap, but REALLY? The black mould throughout the rooms are a health hazard. The yard is overgrown and uneven. I have learnt my lesson to READ REVIEWS. Although the reviews I read still understated the problems with this property. The property owner showed us the rooms and disappeared. While polite, she was on the phone the whole time we were there and we couldn't find her and so we were unable to discuss our problems with her. Although we could not stay even one day due to breathing problems from mould, the owner/Bookings.com retained three (3) nights accommodation out of our nine (9) booking.

The ONLY redeeming factor of this property was the location.

The place is full of cockroaches, the bed sheets are dirty, the carpets are dirty, the curtains are dirty, the walls are dirty. There is a dog that is on a balcony, it seems that no one has cleaned up his stool in weeks (the smell is unbreathable) The kitchen is in terrible condition, I lived there for 9 nights and I couldn't cook because everything was infested with small insects and cockroaches. The shower was a nightmare, it's obvious that no one has cleaned there in years. The owner does not know how to speak English and does not even make the effort to use a translator. I just want to mention that before choosing this property I read all the comments about the place, I read one that said you get what you pay for and I strongly disagree about that. I am completely sure I paid for a place for sleep and not for what I got. It is one thing is to be a humble place and another very different thing is to be a garbage dump. Please, do not rent this property, you are going to have a very bad time, no one deserves to live even one night in those conditions.

Very old house, it needs a renovation. At the moment it is not suitable for commercial purposes.

A Chinese man opened the front door, but he can't speak in English. It took me for a while to find a toilet, because it was outside. Very old house, I couldn't lock the bathroom and toilet doors easily.

Vibes really true to the Asian Australian I grew up with. I loved feeling at home especially in this time of much stress and work for me. It was very appreciated. The staff are very good and helpful.

There wasn't anything I didn't like as I was only staying one night and appreciate that it's a room in a person's home.

I liked that again, i had my own room and it was a great size. It may be better if he stripped the carpet up from the room as it looked a little dated. It's a person's home too so I accept that it's going to have lots of knick knacks about but sadly they're hard to clean & not practical and gather dust so not a good idea if multiple people are coming and going; but ok if it's one's own house. The location was ok as easily accessible by tram. I'd consider staying again if I had a bit more time.
