Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very quiet location. The few people we met were very friendly. Beachfront location, looking out over a beautiful bay. Nice lawns and gardens. Comfortable cabin. For readers of this review, be mindful there is no local shop. Host was very friendly and thoughtful. For us this place was a great place to stay.

AustraliaThe accommodation, like King Island itself, felt a little run down and neglected in a gentile sort of way. This was not especially distressing to us, in fact it felt quite quaint, however, there were a few minor discomforts as a result. The recycling and rubbish bins were full to the brim. It was hard to get our waste in. The cabin was comfortable but just a bit worn out in presentation. For example the carpets had seen better days. The kitchen and bedroom were clean and sufficed for our needs. The TV had only one channel available. (Maybe that's true on much of the island, I don't know.) The main entrance lacked a screen door so could not be left open for extra ventilation as there are flies and mozzies. The soap vessel in the shower and the toilet paper had not been replenished, however a phone call to the service lady fixed this quickly. There was only one coffee sachet supplied. Plenty of teabags though. The accommodation is shown as having a restaurant. In fact it looked rather good but seems now to be permanently closed, hence the nearest food available is in Grassy or Currie. Not short trips and at night, very risky for local fauna and ones rental car. In fact we were horrified at the carnage on the roads and whilst I am usually not conservative about speed limits, I felt that the 100 ought to be reduced to 80 on most of the roads. I rarely drove over 80 in the 6 days. Perhaps the worst thing for me (though my wife wasn't bothered) was that in the land close behind our cabin there was a workman with an excavator shovelling soil. Every time he backed up (frequently) the inevitable reverse squeaking indicator sounded. This was frequent and random and lasted for the entire 6 days, often in the evening and on public holidays too. I suppose we were unlucky and this will cease after a while.
The position and environment were superb. The cabin was comfortable enough but see below. The staff responded helpfully throughout, even though the manager was away overseas. It was very peaceful and afforded us the isolation we sought. There was some wildlife around. We would stay again despite (maybe even because of) the negatives outlined below.

AustraliaNo local cafes or shops.
I stayed in one of the four cottages on site. It's perfect for a solo traveller like myself or for a couple. Fully equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed with nice linen and it is spotlessly clean. The room and property surrounds might be basic and a little outdated, but it adds to the ambience of the serenity and isolation of the area. It's disappointing the restaurant has closed down (apparently will reopen for summer 2023) because there's nowhere else to eat in Naracoopa; you'll need to head to Grassy or Currie but they're only around 15-20 minutes drive away (26km). The stars at night are incredible and it's so nice to hear the waves at the beach from the room.

AustraliaBuildings are a bit dated as are the furnishings but the amenities and location more than make up for this.
Location was perfect with unobstructed beach views from your window (the beach was only across the road!!!) The cabin had everything you could need and then some...even matches and candles! Fully functional kitchenette and thick soft towels in the bathroom. Bedding was excellent, including the sofa bed. Manager was only too helpful and friendly. If you're looking for a good price, quiet, low key location you've come to the right place.

AustraliaThe front door did not lock, the key was stuck in the front door, I wasn't offered another room. The shower had black mould in the grout - I did not use the shower. the decking out the front was in poor condition, I believe the welcome mat was hiding broken boards as it dipped when standing on it. The paint was pealing both inside and out. There is no a/c, nor central heating. The small fan heater was pathetic. Only 2 forks in the kitchen and no milk for coffee/tea. For approx. $150 per night - not good value nor did I get a discount for having a broken front door.
I liked the roof over my head instead of sleeping in my car
