Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOne bathroom is not enough bathroom for the amount of guests. One of the toilets kept making noise and was leaking. Lack of overall cleanliness in the room and common spaces. The power in the outlets in my room kept tripping. Can’t find owner at times and the phone number provided doesn’t work. Came at 12 for check in and room wasn’t ready

United KingdomThere wasn't anything I didn't like; except if many people had been cooking at the same time, there weren't always enough pots, pans, plates or cutlery for everyone to use at the same time. Some people had bought some & left them so this wasn't a problem when I left.
This place is really good value for money and rooms ideal for my needs as a solo traveller. Bigger rooms are also available. Aldi, cafe, bank, restaurant and little shopping centre within easy walking distance of the house. The tram and buses were in the same location, serving the central area and suburbs. Once you worked out how to get your Myki card, travel was easy. Also nice wildlife reserves nearby, with kangaroos and a place to see birds and animals. There is plenty of storage space in the room and facilities are adequate. The people I met in the house were very welcoming. John, the owner and his father were also very helpful & friendly.

AustraliaBeds weren't too comfortable, shared bathrooms were not cleaned regularly, window of the room was left open and lots of insects had been in the room. In the middle of the night there was yelling and screaming in the kitchen area along with sounds of pots banging from other long term tenants.
The cost. But for a bit more money you can get a much better experience else where.

AustraliaWhere do I began - Upon entry, I was exhausted and locked myself in my room and fell asleep, to which I was woken by the owner entering my room unlocking the door and watching me sleep. As a female (18) I felt uncomfortable and unsafe for the rest of my stay. - My room was dirty including a poop smeared on the window, the bed was comfy but the sheets were dirty and the room was in bad sharp overall. - The owners smoke and the house smelled of weed. - The bathrooms weren’t clean and there was no hand wash or toilet paper. - There was no fly screen on windows causing my room to fill with bugs. - The owners have 5 cats on the property and the litter box is at the front door. - I paid extra for air conditioning and didn’t receive it. - The bathroom didn’t lock properly.
The location was beautiful, close to shops and tram stations, which gave easy access to Melbourne Central.

ArgentinaThe places promotes large rooms. But he chucked me into a reformed Laundry Room. He didn’t bother in removing the sink or the water tabs connection for the washing machine to try to make the room suitable. He didn’t even bother to clean it at all!! The entrance to the house had animal feces, he could have put the box somewhere else, but he chose the main entrance so everybody could take a sniff. 100% not recommended, got Scammed by the ad.

United KingdomThere was nothing I didn't like really. If I had to say something it'd be maybe put a few more cheap & cheerful items of crockery in the kitchen and more cutlery as there sometimes wasn't enough.
I liked the first 2 weeks I'd stayed there so decided to extend my stay, plus it was a great price. I was given a slightly bigger room which was ideal, with plenty of storage space. I'd made nice friends in the house too, so that was a bonus. The Host John and his father were very helpful if you had any questions and gave good advice on what to visit in the area, trips and how to get there. I'd definitely recommend it if you want your own space and out of the bustling city. The tram and buses were also conveniently located for access to city and airport.

United KingdomI wouldn't say I didn't like anything, just the fact that as my room was by the kitchen I could hear people cooking there at all hours day and night, but I guess this is the nature of staying in an Hmo, so no real complaints. There probably needs to be a few more items of crockery, i.e., more cups, maybe a cheap range of plates and cutlery, so I did not feel bad using the owners nice crockery.
I liked the location that it wasn't in a busy city but out in a normal residential area, so I got a feel for everyday life here. Transport to the city was easily accessible by bus or tram, using a Myki top-up card. My single room was ideal for my stay; private, comfortable and spacious. There's an aldi, Coles, cafe, and a karaoke bar a short distance away walking then a few stops by bus to the pub. The owner, John was friendly and had beautiful cats and kittens at the property, but they've sadly had to move away. There are lovely walks too around the area, namely Mount Cooper lookout, Bundoora golf course and park and Gresswell Reserve with marked paths and wild grey Kangaroo! I was definitely in my element, then I went to the pub to sing karaoke; a great end to the evening.
