How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

No towels had been left in our motel room. Shower shelf was broken, so nowhere to place bottles of soap or shampoo. No hot plate for cooking in motel room. Room on second level and stairs are the only way of getting to the upper level and carrying suitcases up and down them was difficult and risky.
Comfortable bed. Clean. Room decorated nicely. Nice indoor pool.

Annoying that so many of the activities are an extra cost on top of the accommodation costs. Too far from the main streets to walk.
Super family friendly. Clean. Love the jumping pillow.

The TV remote was missing. We searched everywhere. They had the thickest dooner on the bed which made it impossible to sleep. I would get too hot and throw it off, then be too cold with just a sheet, so I had a really bad night.
The room was well laid out and comfortable.

The stairs to the room, we would have preferred a ground floor room we are both 60 plus. It would help if you informed us of this when we booked.

Heated pool was not overly warm by the time we used it in the late afternoon.
Location and facilities for young families were great. The unit was clean and tidy with enough cooking supplies for what we needed. Laundry facilities were also good and easily accessible.

It was just a little bit too far out of town to be able to easily walk to find food. No food outlets on site. It was great being right next to the swimming pool, but I can imagine this might get noisy at busy times.
Our Shearwater studio was bright, clean and well supplied with fridge, kettle, hot drinks tray, and microwave. Parking close by (code was needed for the barrier). We had a comfortable overnight stay, and enjoyed Port Fairy.

The park was fully-booked and felt very crowded. There was no outdoor area to enjoy outside our cabin with a caravan parked right next to our car parking space, so we felt hemmed in. This would be a nice park in quieter seasons.
Our cabin was very clean and tidy. The staff were super friendly on check-in and check-out. The free wi-fi was very strong and reliable, perfect for working remotely,

I thought I had booked a cabin and was told by the staff member it was a motel unit. There was no offer to change our booking but was told ...it's only for 1 night!!!! We were happy the room turned out to be okay.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The barbecue was nice and clean too.

Originally we booked a cheaper room but it was quite basic. They happily changed us to a bigger room at $80 extra. Bit excessive at a quiet time.

Tap water wasn't great for drinking (or boiling or cooking) due to the taste. Wifi and TV reception was pretty poor - however we didn't come to use the TV/internet (just a little during downtime in the cabin) so it didn't bother us much.
The general park area, kids facilities, games room & heated swimming pool were great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cabin was simple but comfortable and suited our needs. Had all the basic necessities in the kitchen, even a quality Scanpan which was a nice surprise!

The cabin was not very clean when we arrived very late at night. We cleaned the toilet and sink ourselves. Everything else was perfect.
We asked for the quietest spot, and kindly, they upgraded our booking to a spa cabin, which was such a lovely gesture. The park was pretty full, but regardless to the amount of people, everyone was happy, respectful and the nights- silent. The staff were approachable and helpful.
