Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaResidential location, lovely gardens. The chooks in the back yard pen were a treat. Thost was very pleasant and informative. Her recommendations for seeing the night silo projections down at the railway station and dinner at the Trans Continental were spot on. There were some local touist info brochures in the room. Great hot shower.

AustraliaA sign might have helped - but C was keeping a lookout for us and came out to meet us so all was well.
Delightful host and very focused on continuous improvement. Clarinda has only recently taken this on and is doing great. It was a comfortable room and bed in an older property with pleasant modern finishes. Being on the edge of the desert it was cod at night but the heating kept up well. Tucked away on the edge of Quorn certainly a huge step up from some outback pubs & motels I have visited. Good to see a new vision providing high quality tourism in a remote town. Best of success to her!

AustraliaWe have already discussed with our host the fact that there was no hot water in the kitchen. She had said she would wash up any dishes but we prefer to do them at the time, so had to boil a small electric kettle. We also did say that although it didn't bother us, a TV would be desirable.
The location was in a quiet part of town and parking was in a garage. The room was large and it was airconditioned. The internet was free and good. The bed was very comfortable and the place was very clean. In addition to a microwave there was a single portable electric hotplate and a few cooking appliances. The shower was very good.

AustraliaThe property did not match up with its description, the garden may have once been romantic but it looked very ordinary. unusually the unit had no TV and no hot water in the kitchenette/laundry. When we arrived the hostess told us about the many things that needed doing and was working on it but when I looked at reviews dating back to last October she was say the same things. All in all a fairly ordinary stay
A comfortable bed and a garage to put the car in

AustraliaWhile travelling on two occasions we sent a text message to the number indicated on the Booking.com form advising our ETA and requesting a confirmation. The last text was sent on Saturday 18 March advising our arrival on 19 March and agaiin requesting confirmation. On arrival we found no-one in attendance so again we called the number indicated with the response " leave a message and we'll get back to you" We finally went to the local hotel to see if anyone knew the owner. The Bar girl answered that the owner was away and she was staying there later that night as caretaker, after she finished work at the Hotel. We asked if she knew we were staying. No, she did not. As it was getting late, we then decided to look for alternate accom which we found. Later, from another number, we received a call from Clarinda saying she had responded on Saturday but not back to our phone number I had specifically left, but to Bookings.com !! Too late for us. We had already paid the alternate accom for 2 nights and chose to remain there. Since we had attempted to make contact at the phone number indicated and no response was received (we dont necessarily travel with our eyes glued to a PC all day long !!) we would like a refund of our pre-paid booking. Clarinda was most apologetic when she finally called but it was too late - she had ample time prior to our arrival to advise us of the circumstances - not 2 hours or so after our arrival. she only called because the bar girl obviously called her with our complaints.!! Please arrange a refund.

AustraliaThere were no breakfast bowls. There were the owners clothes in the wardrobe and one room her personal belongings and photographs. She appeared dishevelled when we arrived complaining of a migraine. There were no towels. She complained about us having a child when we arrived even though I wad explicit and upfront about this when booking and during correspondence. She walk in through a side door without knocking while we were in the house which felt like a blatant disregard of privacy. The backyard was shared with hers and it was unclear whether we could use it. No TV. The bed and bedding for our child was very poor.
The front garden was nice

New ZealandI know it’s hard to get tradies etc in more remote areas but please don’t just tell people on arrival that a ‘switch is dodgy’ and then leave the guest to cover it for safety. A real effort has been made to convert part of the house for accommodation. Simple things like providing extra pillows and having softer towels go a long way towards adding comfort. Most places do provide a TV. having to boil water to add to the cold tap water to wash dishes in the laundry sink worked ok. if these kinds of things aren’t ‘spot on’ this needs to be reflected in the pricing.
the garden is lovely
