How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Shower and kitchen are very basic, some people staying here were bit shady, some shouting banging with doors etc going on.
Nice comfortable room, housekeeping staff was very helpful and helped us to find our lost item. Free parking.

You do share the accommodation with some elements also drawn to cheap accommodation but the room security is sufficient enough.
Very great location, cheap rooms, laundry facilities and a big pool.

Cleaner toilets, lights near the mirrors
The price, pool and room were great. The shared toilets and bathrooms were poorly kept. There was a mirror in the room, not the bathrooms, but the mirror was nowhere near a light so I couldn’t apply my make up

the location - there is a nice walk along the beach from the city centre back to the hotel but it’s around 35 mins each way so we did need to get a taxi a few times.
This was the nicest and cheapest place we stayed in cairns, it was all very clean & the rooms had everything you need - kettle, microwave, tea, coffee & a good tv!

The smell in the room was a bit humidy. I also saw a de-humifier so there must be an issue with moist in the Hoel.
It is an outdated motel/hotel but it was good for a one night stay. Didn't use much facilities but I was happy there was a parking behing an electric fence.

Although clean the decor was very average. There was no bedside table in my room. Ac worked well. Pool area was nice with kitchen although a number of cooking hobs did not work.

Lots of noise on the Sunday night - people outside drinking. Little ants in the kitchenette and bathroom went all through my belongings. Would have been great to be able to drive up to my door.. I had to buy a large amount of supplies, and then run through the rain with them on multiple trips from my taxi.
Comfortable bed, and clean.. Friendly lady on reception. Glad I was able to swap to the ground floor with my heavy suitcase and shopping. In a good location with distance to the airport and shops

There were ants in the room, dust and small bits of rubbish underneath the middle of the double bed, air conditioning was a bit noisy but work well. Pool wasn't heated and was too cold for our child to swim in.
Fairly good location, only a couple minutes from the center of Cairns and the esplanade. Room was adequate- we had a room with private bathroom, double and single bed, which were soft but manageable for us.

We ended up upgrading rooms, first room had a funky smell, bed was not comfortable at all and we weren't aware that the bathroom was shared with other guests. (My mistake though I thought it was 1 bathroom for the whole family)

- I read the shared bathroom description thinking it was just shared between myself and another guest, closed off to the other guest. This was not the case. However, the facilities were kept stocked and clean. - I was jolted awake every couple of hours by other guests talking loudly and slamming doors
