How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The stoves in the kitchen didn’t work properly and the laundry was rather expensive.
Clean hostel with a friendly vibe. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended!

Common area is closed at 10pm, meaning there is no where to cook or make a drink after this time. Pool table costs $2 and does not take card, so you have to use cash.

- not many toilets/showers, but didn’t happen too often where we were waiting - small kitchen area so if there’s 2/3 people already cooking you need to wait until it’s less congested - not super social
- stayed in private room & 4 dorm - both were decent sized rooms & comfortable - close to the city centre which is super convenient - friendly & helpful staff

Breakfast can be chaos if you are not used to this kind of places.
Nice stay in the private room, it has a washing machine, refrigerator, kitchen & private bathroom. Like a small apartment.

Though there’s a sign of no smoking but still some people smoked in the public dining area. Wish to have a quiet common space with stricter rules for nonsmoking.
Second visit. Great value and location. Glad to see some updates and improvements.

Corridor walls and door were a bit thin.
Best room I have stayed in during my trip through New Zealand and Australia. Shower and bathroom were beautiful.

Bed - A little uncomfortable. On a budget, still acceptable. That is all.
Nice hostel, better than average compared to a few I gave stayed elsewhere. Definitely one I would stay again if I'm on a budget. Great helpful staff.

The property description should state that there is no elevator in the multi-story property. Breakfast needed fresh milk to be served for the price paid and the opening and closing of the floor’s fire door on our floor made it a bit noisy during the night.
The room was light, clean and very modern. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

our toilet had a little dripping sound in the toilet bowl which was slightly annoying, as well as the temperature in the shower was a little frustrating as it was often too hot or not hot enough. but that’s a given, as you can’t expect perfection every stay!
as always, staff are so friendly and the location is so close to the train station and queen street mall & the shared amenities are always clean

10pm curfew doesn't matter to most guests. Very young crowd who like to party - which is totally fine!! But some can't handle it :) drunk people talking too loudly in the hallways, walls are paper thin, so you hear everything. Some idiot set off the fire alarm in the middle of the night.. So I stayed for one night, didn't sleep much.
Close to Greyhound, walking distance to most sights, riverfront etc. Curtains for each bed, quite clean bathrooms.

The mattress, pillows and blinds were quite dirty and stained, but the top sheets were clean. It was fine to sleep but became a problem when we had to strip the bed.

If you are bothered by noise/need to sleep early, I would not recommend staying here. They do stick to curfew and shut down at 10pm, so personally it did not bother me, but just a heads up.
Definitely one of the nicer hostels in the area! I've stayed in others and would definitely be back to this one. Rooms were nice, it was cozy and the air conditioner was on already so it was comfortable once I got in. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly too.

Kitchen was small and some bathrooms were dirty. Staff was ok. It seemed to me like a hostel for younger people.
The property was in a pretty good condition. The gym was ok.

There was chewing gum and marks on the duvet

No parking available so had to use the nearby parking houses which were quite expensive.
