Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsDon’t stay in this place! Especially if you’re a female traveler! When I arrived at the hostel around 9 pm, there was no staff around only drunk people. After calling the manager a couple of times a girl checked me in and told me in what bed I was. On my bed were stuff of some one else, which she would just remove and gave me the bed. This left me wondering if the bed was even cleaned. At the second night I got bitten by something and then a saw BEDBUGS crawling next to the bed. This is disguisting!!! I was even bitten by them a couple of times. When I asked other people in the hostel about it they said the manager already new about this problem. I felt really disgusted that I got a bed in which bedbugs had been seen before. I tried to call the manager but he would never pick up the phone, and left a couple of messages but I still have had no response. I think this is very childish! you should take good care of your hostel and the people in it. I felt really alone as a solo female traveler with this problem. PLEASE DONT GO HERE!
The nice people that stayed there.

AustraliaThe complete un-professionalism of the management demonstrated in the response to another guests honest review. The property was kept unlocked, meaning anyone could walk in off the street directly into the hostel and into the bedrooms. I was grateful to have a friend here with me otherwise as a solo female traveler I would have felt EXTREMELY UNSAFE. The kitchens were never clean, I saw a cleaner once the whole time I was there. Yes it’s the responsibility of the guests to do the dishes but it was way more than just the dishes. There was glass on the floor, the floor corners of the room filled with old food scraps where they had just been swept to the side. The fridge leaked water leaving anything you left in there soaked through, and your bags full. Two of the guests took it upon themselves to clean the hostel and take the bins out on multiple occasions as they were disgusted with the upkeep. Three people throughout my stay were bitten by countless bedbugs. When the issue was raised with management we were told the rooms would be fumigated which they weren’t till two days after. linen was simply changed and that was deemed a suitable fix. I wished to extend my stay for a couple days and politely asked the manager Kyle a few days prior, who said we would be able to and that he had reserved the beds. Never did we nor would we ‘beg to stay’. This was ‘confirmed’ by him multiple times. However this was not the case and if it wasn’t for the female traveler who helped out at the hostel booking us rooms we would have been ignored and left finding alternative accommodation. which I honestly wish we had done. The management is sexist and claimed to have removed us from the property for reasons that changed every time without actually discussing with us when we asked. Ignoring to the multiple calls.
Only good thing about it was when we left it.

AustraliaDon't go there as a solo traveling woman! The place looks filthy, most of the time there is no staff around. There was a creepy and disgusting old guy in the kitchen when I arrived. The whole place is completely run down. Also, I didn't feel safe in the city. Arrived with an overnight bus at 4am and was followed by a strange guy for quite some time... I left as soon as I could!!!
The bathrooms and kitchen were okay.

SwitzerlandThe place looked very run down. I drove by the house 3 times because i did not realise it was a Hostel. The outside area looked like a dumping place (old mattress, old washer, loads of clothes etc.). the fresh linen was stored on the pool table. The whole place just looked filthy and weird. The door to my dorm had no lock. The main door was unlocked as well, so literally anyone could've walked in. I don't even think there was staff present (I arrived at 3pm). Im a female solo traveler and felt so unsafe I decided to leave. Thank god I arrived early so there was enough time to book a different accommodation.
I decided to leave

United Kingdomwhen I arrived there were no staff members around, there was a sheet on the desk saying it’s self check in and I should have received an email with my details. I hadn’t. I’m a young female solo traveller and was exhausted and worried at this point, there was no one at all around other than a man who just came back from a run, he tried to help me but also couldn’t find any staff. after about 45 minutes someone appeared and said they would send me the email now (it’s about 9pm at this point). so I was finally able to access my room. the room was tiny and the beds weren’t clean, lucky I was only staying two nights. my room was directly next to the kitchen and so was very loud all night. wouldn’t recommend to anyone, DO NOT STAY HERE
nothing. the rooms were dirty, there was one toilet, the kitchen is tiny, and nothing felt safe at all

AustraliaThe kitchen was disgustingly dirty and disorganised. The whole place was dirty, everything looks old and poorly kept. The bathrooms were also dirty, one of them with a clogged sink. I was literally attacked by bed bugs during the night. I woke up with more than 27 bites on my whole body. Do yourselves a favour and just find somewhere else to stay in Bundaberg.
The only two positive things about this place were its location and Tom (friendly staff member).

United KingdomBed bugs in the room and in other peoples beds as well. Absolutely zero security - anyone could walk in off the street at any time and stay there ? Nowhere secure to leave your items. Staff weren’t responsive or weren’t around. Just overall super weird.

United Kingdom- my mattress was absolutely awful, I’m not a princess and have stayed in many hostels with springy mattresses but this one was next level. I did raise it with staff so they were aware and can hopefully replace for the next person
- central location - staff were wonderful, thank you Kyle for being so helpful and offering lifts if we needed them - accidentally checked into the wrong room due to confusion with the room number (ended up in a 4 bed instead of a 12 bed) and Kyle let us stay there for the duration of our stay instead of moving us out or asking us to pay more considering we’d ended up in a much smaller and therefore more expensive dorm! - was a lovely bunch of people staying there - kitchen was open 24/7, ideal for late night snackers like me! - not a dry hostel so could enjoy a few drinks at night with other backpackers - had a lovely homely feel to it, more like a house than a generic backpackers hostel - free laundry

United Kingdomthe dryer didnt work however no notice about this on the machine. One toilet (without having to go outside) and shower for 3 dorm rooms with at least 4 people per room. Mattress were awful and old. Half of the stuff in there was falling apart and the back door kept getting suck when closed. A lot of noise late into the night from other residents. Would never stay again and would definitely not recommend
Very little to be honest. Two perks, decent wifi and free washing machines.

SwitzerlandThe matraces are too old, it’s not too comfortable to sleep on them any more. Do the Online Check-in early, so the Key-App will be activated on time (takes a wile until it works).
Staff was great, the cleaning generally is alright and the rooms are heigh and with plenty of light everywhere. The kitchen was mostly clean and showed a good equipment (no oven, everything else is there). Absolutely friendly athmosphere, met interesting people and had many good talks even in this short period of time. Online Check-in and Check-out at any time without problems. In addition, I could store my baggage and stay in the Bunk Inn for the whole check-out day, as my bus departed in the evening. Thanks for that!

ThailandThere was no staff available for check in. I had to find my own bed by asking the guests staying there. The worst part was the springs in the mattress were jabbing into my back - terrible nights sleep.
It was very convenient to the middle of Bundaberg.
