How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Floor in kitchen looked dirty, and stains on bed sheets. Couldn't use the microwave or pots, only used plates, everything looked too old. Not saying they were not working, just did't want to touch. Maybe I'm too sensitive, it was full, so probably not so bad. Probably would have been a better experience if not for cyclone Jasper...
Close to restaurants and shops. They had a pool and bbq area. Bathroom ok, clean.

Me and my wife and I enjoyed our stay in Cairns City Palm. The rooms were immaculate; every day, the dirty towels and rubbish would be emptied, and we would feel welcomed to return to our room with freshness. Cairns City Palms has a swimming pool, barbecue area, free car park during the stay, friendly staff and so on.

Our oven didn't have any symbols on it 😂 so we couldn't work it properly. We asked reception who weren't sure as they've been like that for a while. It made us laugh but it was a little annoying.
The accommodation was really clean, and our room was very spacious with a full kitchen. Free tea and coffee every day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Happy to give us extra tea coffee, salt pepper whenever we asked. A good location for the price, around 20 mins walk to the main centre. You are 2 mins away from some fast food places, liquor store and small grocery shop.

Furniture in main living area and bedroom could do with an upgrade- very worn chairs and table. Hostel next door was a bit noisy in the evenings but didn’t persist all night!
Spacious apartment with good bed- updated shower and bathroom. All the appliances were functional with pots and pans available for cooking.

Not much to not like.
OK breakfast. OK guest laundry. VG room. Repair to shower done exceptionally fast. Staff all excellent and acomodating Convinent location. Clean. No regrets. We extended our stay by 2 days.

Location. Probably only good for those with cars or using taxis. Bus service was spotty and bus drivers were surly.
Back porch, private "patio" space. Excellent shower. Great food venues nearby.

Cleaning of glass surfaces, all had smear marks from cleaning products. We struggled to see Clearly in the mirrors. Another blanket in the main room would be great also.

Located in front of main venue, our room was quite noisy during night. Not too much offer in the neighbourhood to buy, eat or drink. But those things are totally externals to hotel management.
Is a silent and relaxing place, clean and well maintenance. I had not expectations about luxury and is not, but enough to spend a few nights in Cairns. Not far away form city center, about 30 minutes walk. Fresh small bakery and milk /Coffee every day downstairs. The small kitchen in the room with electric stove, cutleries and fridge made our decision totally accurate.

The only thing that let the appartment down was the security. The front entrance has a sliding door with a magnetic lock operated by key fob, but it was possible to open the door without the fob! The back door had a chain but no key.
A very nice spacious appartment with good facilities and a nice pool.
