My single room was very small and had no window. Air con was old and very noisy. My bed sheet had stains on it (it was changed next day though when I asked). Common areas is too hot and some renovation would be good.

Great location - just in front of the lagoon and besides the night market, so plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Well equipped kitchen and nice lounge with small pool. Self check-in is a great option for the late arrival.

The room was very damp, and smelt very very damp. Not having any natural light in the room was also something we wasn’t keen on but we was only there for 3 nights so it was fine!

the hostel is perfect location, right in the main part of cairns can walk to everything including a 5-10 min walk to the marina for all the reef tours. The rooms were spacious we had a double private room, never had to queue or wait to use any facilities or bathrooms.

The shower taps where difficult to work out as they weren't labelled hot or cold. So ended up with cold running water for a bit until I worked it out. The corridor was quite dark. I felt there could have been more clothes hangers on the rail. Not an issue with the hostel, but the taxi from the airport dropped me off around the corner from the hostel saying they're not able to get down the esplanade? It wasn't far to walk but wasn't helpful with not really knowing where I was going. Might just be something for other guests to be aware of!

Great location, right on the front and near the lagoon and many shops, bars and places to eat. Spoilt for choice. Not far from the train station and boats too. The room was fairly quiet considering this too. There was a pool on site which I hadn't expected. The vending machine and washer/dryer took contactless payment. Great communication from the hotel. The room was really hot when I arrived, and I couldn't change the aircon setting as it was too high up to reach, but a message on the app meant it was fixed very quickly. The keyless entry was a brilliant idea! It was so nice not having to remember to take a key whenever I went to the bathroom/kitchen.

The bed was too firm for my personal liking. Some of the areas are a bit run down. Some of the guests didn't clean up after themselves, which crowded the kitchen. However, the staff cleaned up the best they could.

Staff were friendly and responsive when you needed something. The room was bigger than I thought. Wifi was fast and reliable. Kitchen had everything you needed for cooking and meal prepping. Location was amazing - right by the esplanade and close to the Marina. Everything is walking distance to main attractions, restaurants, groceries, and shops. Tour booking is at the front desk for convenience.

I think it's a hostel trying to be both a hostel and a hotel, which is fine but still a bit of work to do on the hotel bit. For example, my room did not have soap, just some hand wash and the pillows were on their last legs. There were no tea/coffee making facilities or mini fridge in the room but these were available in the shared kitchen

aircon or more fans in common areas would be better, not really the staffs fault but other guests leave common areas filthy.. bathrooms could be cleaner and rooms are a little damp. hard to know who is staff and who is staying. app is good when it works but could do with more info on check in for the app

Extremely hot and uncomfortable in the hostel outside the room, some attention to that issue would create a very good accomadation.

It was that on Booking.com Cairns Waterfront Haven management only says that upfront payments aren't needed and that they'd manage all payments. However, what the missed to mention is that the full amount of your booking would be changed to your credit card on the day you are supposed to checked in (regardless of what time you do so). I didn't receive a payment confirmation receipt on my email either, however I did receive a text message with the self-check in info, which also stated to contact the staff at reception at some stage to make payments if needed. Other than that, the place was ok and staff was outstandingly helpful!

The reason why I chose it was mainly its locations, and boy I must say it didn't disappoint me. It was walking distance from all places I needed to go. And if that and a bed to sleep is all you are after, then I highly recommend Cairns Waterfront Haven!
