This was our second stay at this lovely property, and it more than matched our high expectations arising from our 1st visit. It is impeccably clean, has quality furnishings and fittings, and is located in a scenic part of Goolwa. We can't wait to return & are already planning our next trip.

The location was absolutely perfect. Right on the water. The house and views were just Devine. So much thought and effort has gone into the space of the house and property. Very comforting. We all didn’t want to leave, will definitely be rebooking for the near future. Very well thought out. Cleanliness was exceptional.

Fantastic stay, loved the views and the quality of everything in the house is excellent. Kids loved the jetty, kayak, paddle board. We loved the e bikes with the bike path right in front of the house. Would definitely stay again. One of the best properties we have stayed in for the money. Can’t recommend enough.

Captain Jack's is so beautifully decorated. It has a deep history and we loved that our family become a part of that story. It's close to town, cafes and restaurants and has everything you need to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. We were all so impressed with the small gestures. The house itself is very well looked after and so clean. It's thoughtfully equipped and has lots of space for groups to spread out and have some privacy. The beds are super comfortable and fitted out with linen. We loved sitting on the deck for our morning coffee and watching the boats sail past on the river. Our children had fun playing in the backyard too. Thank you for an enjoyable weekend. We'll definitely be back!

The only small issue was no fan remote for the downstairs master- or we couldnt find it anyway! So was a bit warm for us but Im sure would be easily fixed

We thought Captain Johns River house was very special and were grateful the family share it - so many wonderful treasures collected over the years- and the history of the house (and Captain John )in the compendium is a must read for guests- very comfortable spaces and attention to detail is very obvious in this home and has been well designed

cannot fault this place at all. was perfect for our needs. a group of friends we all had our own space and was the best location, even opposite the walking track for daily walks and perfect for dog watching!!

The only issue with our visit had nothing to do with the accommodation....just couldn't get a taxi on Saturday night for our dinner booking and it was too far to walk. Not great to discover the lack of taxi's after a few bubbles.

Truly lovely home away from home. Genuinely well stocked kitchen - I'm talking coffee, tea, Milo, hot chocolate, marshmallows, sugar, condiments, muesli milk...even cookies! Comfortable beds and fluffy towels. Great views too....and we had to fight over the massage chair.

There wasn’t a thing I could suggest

It was a lovely stay, the house is amazing, spectacular views, has everything you need for your stay and more. Cleanliness 10/10, the beds were beautifully made, amenities were all available, we even had milk in the fridge and cookies upon arrival and some other goodies….such a lovely touch. Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed.
