How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The only thing I would say that was a downside to this apartment was that there were no windows you could see out of. Perfect other than that.

It got a little stuffy overnight and now windows to look out but above the bed was a skylight which was lovely
Such a lovely space. The bed was so comfortable and the ensuite shower was amazing.

The apartment was like living in a corridor. It lacked warmth and was quite unwelcoming. There were no windows and the second bedroom was only a single bed in what was no more than a box room. However, there were two good sized bathrooms.
The location is very central to everything and within walking distance of the Gorge and all amenities

Unfortunately a really bad smell from the milk left in the frother from last guests. As a single female not sure I felt safe coming back to apartment after work - no foyer or reception etc.
Location and great little apartment, pod coffee machine!

Our room was not cleaned from the last person, we thought we walked into a room where guest were still staying, we left and came back 2 hours later, we rang the cleaner She said that we did not have a booking. Was not the best start . We got a better room in the end.
We had an upgrade. As they did not know that we had a booking, owner was overseas but was professional.

Was great for two people or a business couple. It is a right in the city, as it advertises, but in saying that It is really noisy. No natural light or opening windows.

Room had not been cleaned when we arrived and had to go away for a couple of hours whilst this was done (cleaner got dates mixed when we were arriving). No on-site carparking, either on the street (over a hundred metres away when we arrived) or for better security in a council car park nearby which was quite cheap and secure. No offer of any discount or anything else to make up for rooms not being ready.
Central city location, everything within walking distance. Recently renovated with good appliances. Apartment was large although very long and narrow, but overall quite comfortable.

The apartment is long and very narrow, with not much natural light...it reminded us of 3 shipping containers put end-trend. We suspect it was once about a 15 foot gap between 2 buildings and they wedged in a small apartment building. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, which was great, but one of the bedrooms was quite small. In addition, there is no dedicated parking...it is on the street. We arrived a bit after 5 and had a little trouble finding a spot until others left at 5:30p. The street parking is only valid until 9am, which was communicated clearly before we arrived.
This apartment is in a great location in Lauceston. We were able to walk to dinner at Stillwater (highly recommended). The apartment was clean and newly renovated, which was very nice and well appointed for the size space. The kitchen was nicely laid out and had everything we needed.

I didn’t like the noise from apartment 3. I thought I had apartment 3 and was extremely annoyed that I’d paid the same price for a room with no windows.. that certainly didn’t do my anxiety any good.
