Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNot the fault of the hotel but its just around the corner from Kings Cross which is a bit of a sleazy area. Lots of sirens and unhinged people outside at night. Strange plumbing in room. Using the bathroom tap would make the toilet run for some reason.
Good sized, comfy room and close to Kings Cross Station for convenient travel elsewhere. Very nice room for surprisingly low cost.

AustraliaThe room had a smell and look that suggested a refurbish would be helpful.
Location was good with the opera house and botanical gardens within walking distance. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. When our cold tap in the bathroom was not working, we were moved very quickly and enjoyed our stay here.

AustraliaThe iron in the laundry dirtied my shirt ,it needs cleaning , I nearly went to buy a new one, I’m not sure if that’s anything to do with the DeVere , but I think it is somehow associated with the business. Steps at the entrance made lugging a challenge.
Location is very good . A small window gave a pleasant though limited view of Elizabeth Bay. Aircon was very welcome, also some fresh air from the window. A bath was great. Reception was helpful booking a taxi for me, which was much appreciated.

GermanyThe hotel is getting a bit outdated. The carpets are quite old and need to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced. Only view sockets for electrical equipment.
Affordable room, especially during Christmas holidays. Comfortable but not luxurious, close to Kings Cross, the CBD and Bondi Junction. Nice WiFi (although sometimes quite slow). Very friendly staff.

CanadaIf I had to nit pick - the elevator is very slow and small. On one occasion it went up to every floor and stopped before going down to the ground floor. We just used the stairs during busier periods.
We spent 1 week here from Christmas through to new year and it was very pleasant. We were close to the city and mostly walked everywhere. The staff were very friendly and accommodated us when we asked for towels or when a food order arrived. We had to check in 1 day later due to a flight cancellation and they held our room for us upon request. Self-serve laundry was very useful to have on the premises and there is a woolys right across the street to get detergent from. I would stay here again if I am visiting Sydney.

New ZealandThere wasn't any main light in the bathroom, the only light was the one at the mirror so taking a shower/bathe is a bit dark, didn't bother asking as it would be a hassle and I was also out and about. At the entrance there wasn't any ramp and it's a struggle to drag my luggage same goes when you are leaving that you need to battle the few steps from the stairs, if there's a ramp for easy transport of the luggage that would be great. I also seen and nearly caught a cockroach but I lost it since it was a tiny one and it kinda blended with the color of the carpet.
Location is good I reckon. My room has a nice view. Staff are so friendly and helpful, they recommend good local restaurants I also noticed that they look so happy and willing to help travelers who seems uncertain.

AustraliaIt was dated but adds to charm of the heritage building. There was several corridors, luckily our room was pretty straightforward to get to from the lift. It would have been good if the restaurant was operating for breakfast.
Great location, close to train station and only 30 minutes walk to Allianz Stadium. Comfortable beds, great shower and water pressure. Windows that opened, good view, and very quiet. Man on front desk was so helpful in getting us a taxi.
