How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The location was not the greatest as you had to drive to get to restaurants or shops.
It was a nice building and easy to find. The rooms were clean and well set up.

Mould in areas and room looked well used. Found a cockroach under the pillow. No store in walking distance. Parking an issue after 8pm.

The air-conditioner was in need of repair or replacement. It barely worked. The room was shabby: needs to be refurbished.
Quiet location but out of the way. Secure car parking Spacious bathroom, fridge in room.

The bed was uncomfortable, felt like one or two of the springs in the bed were loose, I did not sleep well.
Loved the spacious area and large bathroom. Ease of access and being able to do after hours check in.

We were not impressed with the bed… the king size bed was made up from 2 mattresses. One appeared higher than the other and one was more firm than the other. We didn’t get a balcony and the kitchenette was more basic than expected. We didn’t realise before booking that there was no laundry facility on site.
It was clean. Parking was abundant and secure.

The room wasn't as well appointed as it could have been. No hooks to hang Anything on. Carpets needed cleaning. Shower recess needs cleaning particularly the glass. The cups had dead insects in them! The filter in the air con needed cleaning... My husband did that!! The Aircon needs a service missing some parts.

Pool towels not in room so you have to go to reception to get them. Not enough toilet items (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) for two people. The hallways leading to rooms were quite dirty. No hot chocolate sachets in The room only coffee and tea.
Always a go to when we stay in Macaky. Nice and quiet and it’s clean amenities. Rooms are always nice also. Especially the ones with a view

There was a massive stain on the floor right next to the bed. Wine or juice. The double bed was 2 single mattresses pushed together and couldn't sleep in the middle due to the 2 mattress ends.
The room was very well presented and cleaned other than the stain and the mattress.

There were a few areas that had been missed for cleaning and the pool was pretty grubby.

Room Clean, Bathroom smelt a little bit funky! But clean.. The outside Windows desperately needs some sope and Water Big job to do extra staff needed to do that job .. but overall the room was exceptable..
Friendly arrival staff member to make our stay a comfortable stay , also Friendly cleaning staff.. clean Elavator and access to rooms, love the location close to town centre and shops also close to beach ..

The bed was very uncomfortable, the dryer did not work and there was no hair dryer in the room which I was told there would be. I probably could have asked for a hair dryer and I'm sure they would have got it for me.
The apartment was nice and fairly clean. Staff were excellent nothing was a problem for them 👍

The friendliness of the staff and helpfulness with locating some personal items I accidentally left in my room. They held them for me until I could return to Mackay to collect.

Kitchenette in the king executive suite with balcony and beach views had no sink so I had to wash my dishes in the bathroom.

Mostly good, just needed a more thorough cleaning (for example the shower glass wasn't clean, cabinets needed a wipe down). Pool was pretty tiny.
The apartment had everything we needed and it was roomy. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a second washroom. It was quiet and staff was nice.
