You will be assigned bunk beds and not be able to choose freely. The free voucher for the downstairs bar said you could use it after 5pm, but when you went over in the evening, the waiter said you had to use it before 7pm. It didn't say this when it was given to me

A surcharge of approximately $5 when booking a bed. Red wine overcharged by $2 more than advertised during happy hour when asking for the house wine. A smell of a toilet when in kitchen level 3. One other person in room 320 always coughing earl and late hours of the night.

Everything was a bit dirty in my opinion. For example, in the kitchen, there were many flies because I think someone forgot their food there or so and some people did not properly wash the pots after using them so there was, for example, still a layer of dried rice in them. Also our room and the bathroom had a weird smell for some reason which was still there the next day. The shower curtain was quite dirty and already had holes. It would've also been nice to have a bin in the bathroom. And the locker room for the baggage storage had a really strong bad smell to it, it seemed like it hadn't been cleaned for a long time.

Big lounge, very social atmosphere and free welcome drink. Very central location and super friendly staff! We could also store our luggage for free before checking in and after checking out which was great. There was also a big kitchen and eating area. Our room had a window and AC. Also, every bed had its own charging sockets and a light.

I have never waited for check-in for so long. I don't know what the capacity is, but that little reception is not going to cover that amount of people. We are talking about more than 45 minutes of waiting time in the queue. Also, it was quite funny always see people waiting for an elevator in queues. It's also a bit of a party hostel so get ready for that.

It's a huge hostel, you can meet a lot of new people and the kitchens are quite spacious also, great location in the north edge of Melbourne CBD.

One person in the room on drugs/withdrawal that was extremely erratic and had to be taken to the hospital at some point. Never came back again but I’m certain their stuff is still in the room today. Obviously not the fault of the property but be aware that it happens. Bed assignment randomly changes in the app (happened 3 times during a single booking), which causes confusion. Hindrance that the kitchen closes during 11pm-5am, especially if you work at night like I did. They say its to reduce sound, but I stayed in the room next to the kitchen and you do not hear anything in the rooms. An hour or so for cleaning is fair. Bathrooms not always the cleanest, since they skip cleaning if there is someone inside the bathroom at that time. Also a single bathroom for 16/18 people causes ‘queues’ in the mornings and evenings. Extremely annoying announcements over the PA system for the happy hours, announcing the drink specials or telling the ladies to put on makeup and make their way downstairs to party. EVERY SINGLE DAY. Fine in the common areas but very loud and absolutely unnecessary in the bedrooms where people are sleeping!

Good location near shops, activities, restaurants and PT. The new style bunks are great, the old ones not so much. Mattress is comfortable. Air-con works properly in some rooms, not in others (or the settings are set way too hot (32!) and cannot be changed manually. Depending on what floor you are on, kitchens are hit and miss. One has many plates/cutlery/pans etc. (2), the other floor just way understocked and very dirty (3). Great that there is a free gym on site! Staff is really lovely and helpful, definitely the highlight (except for the seccy that is often there at night, not very helpful at all; such as not opening the lobby doors if your phone dies).
