The location is ok.not the closest to town. The facilities are good and an overall good experience. Very pricey though.

The hostel, when we were there, was full of people living there, mainly people from South America. They were a huge group who stuck to themselves and only spoke Spanish. This made it hard to meet and socialise with people at the hostel. Because they lived there, they also had all their belongings everywhere, particularly the kitchen.

The room was comfortable and well set up. The hostel also looked very nice, with a beautiful tropical garden, outside seating, pool and bar.

Flies everywhere in the kitchen and cobwebs, didn’t feel clean. The bathrooms were outdoors had to walk away from our double room. Didn’t feel that clean.

Great hippy chill vibe, open mic night was new and great Spanish singers. Unique in hostels, the double private room did smell of damp, no mould though. The air conditioning was weak didn’t sleep very well in such a humid city. Our door was also very difficult to open. Also had a ceiling fan. Great location of port Douglas. Bit of a party/smoking chill vibe. Staff were really nice.

I love that place! I slept in high maintenance hotels and low budget places, but this place is exceptional for a nature lovers! If you like to hear the forest when you sleep and be surrounded by nature and friendly people while having a drink on a lounger, you must visit this camp. After few nights I drove over 100km to get to Dougies again, because I liked it so much. Higly recommend!

Kitchen fridge is way too packed. Would be good if you guys used a system where you let everyone know on the fridges that food will be thrown out at a certain date to keep leftover bags from over spilling since there is a lot of food bags there and I’m sure a portion of those are not being used. There has to be a better system than that.

Ease of use of facilities. Kitchen is open 5:30-11pm which is reasonable times. Showers open all night which is great. The room has aircon! I went during one of the hottest times of year (unknowingly) and I was very grateful for the aircon. There is housekeeping daily at 10am which is a nice feature. Staff are very friendly. I wish I could have had a drink at the bar during my stay but I had extreme heatstroke. Would definitely love to come back and regardless of the heatstroke I had an excellent time here. Highly recommend Port Douglas. Lovely stay.

The toilets and showers were often dirty, toilet paper and paper towels on the floor. Loud music until late at night made it difficult to sleep, DJ playing until after 10 on a Thursday night. Other guests were very noisy at all hours of the night when walking past rooms. Longer term guests were rude and judgy. Check in/out times were too restrictive.

For starters….as we walked in, there was a VERY uncomfortable feeling of judgement from the long term residence who clearly live here. We did not feel comfortable to enjoy the common areas. In the room there was a gaggle of unknown animals living in the walls. But they proved to be better neighbours than the hostel itself. When it was time to go to sleep, the “bar” of the hostel turned into a night club. BLASTING music with people screaming. Not to mention, the fire alarm activated twice. Probably from the massive amount of fake smoke pumped onto the dance floor. This continued until after midnight. It was so loud that we found it difficult to maintain a conversation, let alone sleep. This is completely misleading to people who are seeking a quiet space to enjoy the nearby town. The private rooms are less than 25m from this dance club. We will NOT be staying again.

Clean room, towels and soap were a great touch. Loved the fridge in the room.
