Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNothing. Although a tea towel would be helpful and more paper towel was needed but that’s it.
Everything. We loved that so much heart and soul by the owners went into the creation of these gorgeous dug out units. From building it to designing and making the furniture, to the little quality touches like the beautiful toiletries and Sheridan sheets, to a laundry service and the fabulous outdoor fire pit and more.

CanadaI literally cannot find fault with the dug out. The hosts are wonderful people and the property is awesome.
Everything was top notch. Mick and Irene are phenomenal hosts. Kind and attentive with great suggestions for activities to do in Coober Pedy. The accommodation itself is spectacular and very unique: a home dug into the side of a hill is not something you see every day! The interior is really something. It's incredibly spacious and dug directly into the rock. You can see veins of gypsum and opal running along the walls, as well as a mine tunnel above. There are holes for explosives and also holes drilled into the rock that serve as stashes for wine bottles. The furniture is almost all hand made as well. The rooms are kept at a very comfortable 20-22 degrees c, owing to the nature of the dugout. Mick and Irene have put a lot of thought and effort into the whole experience and it shows. There is a full kitchen and a fridge stocked with fresh bread, boiled eggs, ham, cheese, milk, juice, and water as well as butter and margarine. There is an honor bar with beer and wine with reasonable payment suggestions as well as complimentary port - a nice touch. Also if you don't want to deal with car rental from the airport, they have at least one 4x4 that they will loan out for very reasonable price. Location is also very convenient, about 6 minutes drive from the main street as well as to the airport. There are also some roos that like to hang out on the property! They're quite used to people and can be seen on the ridge right by the parking area every morning. I think the dug out b&b is an excellent choice for anyone visiting coober pedy, whether it's a family holiday, romantic getaway, or a road trip with friends. Do make sure you check out the night sky and sunrise/set while you're there. They are breathtaking. PS: i don't have any pictures of the interior because i made a huge video and i can't grab screenshots right now. It's truly beautiful and honestly photos don't do it justice.

This is hands down the best accommodation we’ve stayed in. A stunning oasis in the desert. Mick & Irene are lovely people who have created a beautiful home away from home. A labour of love built by Mick over 5 years. Very cleverly done. Extremely spacious there’s plenty of room. You don’t feel claustrophobic as they’ve managed to incorporate a light feel into a luxury dugout. There’s everything you need to cook your meals including a bbq & fire pit (which we cooked potatoes in). Plenty of delicious food provided for your breakfast. If you can drag yourself out of the comfy beds try to get up to see the sunrise one morning. Highly recommended

AustraliaMy only concern and this is a minor one is the lack of high speed internet. Cellular services in Outback Australia are nothing like they are in big population centres and signal strength can very dramatically between locations only a few metres apart. Being underground adds to the challenge of getting a good signal. We had no issues with voice calls but don’t expect to stream a movie or play online games while staying at this property.
This is a place perfectly in tune with its surroundings and a wonderful introduction to the joys of underground living. Extremely well appointed and spacious it is a stunning contrast to the post apocalyptic landscape that characterises most of the surrounding area. I can’t imagine a better place to stay on a road trip through Central Australia.

The time and effort put into creating such a beautiful place shines through completely. Such attention to detail throughout the B&B, very impressive. Extremely clean and homely and the owners were friendly and informative, ensuring our stay was perfect. Great place to stay if you're wanting the underground feeling which is Coober Pedy. Highly recommend!
