Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Ideal cbd location, secure off-street parking, roomy suite, small but functional kitchenette, close to retail, selected restaurants and wine bars. Would stay there again. Will be even better when on-site restaurant is operational.

AustraliaNothing
The location is excellent, across the road from several cafes and restaurants and a short walk to shopping centre, tourist tram stop and Bendigo Art Gallery. Ella contacted us before arriving to offer to book dinner at local restaurants, which she did. She was very helpful, friendly and professional which we appreciated very much.

AustraliaThat the restaurant was not yet open, not the fault of the hotel. Being an old building there were a few creeks and noises from the building.
The communication from the owner prior to us arriving was exceptional. We knew everything we need to know before we even got to the place. He greeted us at reception and took us to our room personally. It was well presented as a old building and we got a bit of history.

AustraliaI didn't dislike anything but must mention rooms are only accessible by stairs. While my bed was super comfy, think duck feather pillows would have just been perfect.
The hotel is intimate with beautiful, well decorated spacious rooms. The art work throughout is wonderful. Also smells great.

AustraliaOnly small things, which didn't attract from how magnificent this building is. A little more attention to cleanliness, i.e., dusting skirting boards, ensuring all wrappers are vacuumed up. A bin liner would be great, too.
We loved the styling. It made the rooms feel so cosy. The host was fantastic, such great knowledge of the building she was really friendly.

AustraliaThe bar area was completed but not open for drinks prior to 6pm and then after 6pm area was locked. The restaurant opening sometime soon.
Ella our host was great, communication excellent. The room was on ground facing car park & exit door. This wasn’t at all an issue on our stay. It was very quiet. I loved how the old banks cells are now converted into sitting booths. Rooms were equipped with glasses for drinks in your room or out in the courtyard.

AustraliaWhen we booked, there was no indication that the hotel is undergoing renovations to add a restaurant and does not have a reception. We were also not aware that the room we booked is on the ground floor and has a disability bathroom. While this would be great for my mother or others with disabilities, I found the shower with bench quite uncomfortable and just never fond of a ground floor room. Nowhere in the description when we booked, this was indicated. So it would be great if the hotel can be more specific in room descriptions. Some people would be delighted to know they are on the ground floor and have a disability bathroom and might not like to have to climb stairs, but we prefer a normal standard bathroom and being on a higher floor. So adding these details to your description will allow travellers to make choices that are more specific to fit their needs. The room also did not have a suitcase rack or proper wardrobe. A suitcase rack might ruin the beautiful decorations, but there was nowhere but the floor to put our suitcases. If the room had a proper cupboard with a shelf or two, one could put the suitcase there. There were a chest of drawers and a writing desk, but they had many ornaments on so we did not feel comfortable to put a suitcase on them and risk breaking anything. No point in unpacking a suitcase for just one night. Bending down to the floor to get things out of a suitcase is fine for the young and fit, but would be a problem for those with mobility issues. The price was quite expensive for what was offered. Considering the property has a section under construction at the moment with no reception or breakfast and some basic things missing, the fee per night was is similar to hotels like the Sir Stamford at Circular Quay in Sydney or the Windsor in Melbourne and many other high end hotels where there are a lot more facilities, 24 hour check in, breakfast, proper cupboard, suitcase rack, ironing board, laundry service etc.
The location of the hotel was great, beautiful old historic building. Right in the centre of town. The staff were very friendly and let us check out a bit later at 11. Great, secure parking at the back of the hotel. Large, beautifully decorated room. Bonus kitchenette we did not know was in the room when we booked. For decorations and beauty, friendliness and cleanliness, the hotel definitely gets 10/10.
