Firealrm went off at 2am We called the staff more than 5 times over the last week to organise late check-in. Finally, received confirmation and the pass code an hour, after we landed. The phone number is off-line most of the time.

The building was kinda run down. I believe there was a sinkhole or something under the floor boards in front of one of the bathrooms maybe? But it was a place to stay. Unfortunately other tenants were being filthy and leaving the communal bathrooms a mess. No airflow in the room I stayed in made it very stuffy and hard to sleep in, on the first floor so opening the window would’ve probably not been safe lol. Was hard to get in contact with the caretaker and myself and a lot of people checking in couldn’t get in and wasn’t getting N answer to what the door code was. Was alright in my opinion but my American friends thought I was crazy😭😭

I liked that it was easy access to public transportation and lots of stores. It was normally very quiet too and you wouldn’t run into a lot of people.

My room was clean enough, but the rest of the hotel was a mess, with dirt and dust and items piled everywhere, and the common area bathroom was not cleaned very well and was dusty and dirty. There was no soap, and always a hunt for toilet paper. The door to the men's toilet did not close properly, either. The common area kitchen was a little better, but there were always dirty dishes in the sink, and no tea towel.

The location was convenient for me and the area seemed safe. There is a Hungry Jack's across the street. It was relatively quiet and the bed was comfortable, so I slept well.

What is the downfall of the Fawkner Heritage Mansion is that the place is not kept clean at all = Kitchen & bathrooms especially are really dirty!!! When you arrive at the property you also wonder if you have the right place as the garden is very unkept & the tile leading to the front entrance is broken. The office where you check in, also needs a thorough tidy up as it gives a bad first impression to clients. All these above are a real shame as otherwise the place could be a real gem with the beautiful foyer, beautiful wooden floors and olden time feel that gives a very cosy feel to the place. The gentleman that welcomed us is also very nice.

We booked 4 nights and wanted to shorten our stay to 2 nights they said we will get a refund, and even after contacting them they just ignored us. It smells like smoke and the whole house has weird atmosphere. Not really clean and really old building If you can afford it spend a little bit more money and go somewhere else

not very clean, the lock on our door didn’t work and we got trapped inside our room !!! but then we’re moved to a different room by a very lovely cleaning lady. she set the bed up for us and made sure we were okay but it was quite stressful

If you're hoping for customer service, cooking your own meals and doing some laundry, this is not the place for you. If you take it as a experience then hey it's definitely that!

If you need a place to sleep and nothing else in a lower budget is available then yes this is ok. Rooms have locks, theres clean sheets and towels and decent beds.

The kitchen needs to be better equipped if you're going to advertise a kitchen for use. Shared bathrooms need to be kept cleaner.

my room was facing the main road, it was a little noisy at night but it was bearable.

easy check-in process, Jeff was very helpful - my initial room was on the first floor and i have heavy luggage, he helped to swap with another room and came in to clean it up. this is a vintage-looking property.

Couldn't complain about anything really only that I was given last year's pin code to get into the building and had to agonisingly wait till someone was entering the door max time 35m but was nice to see properly the outdoor hidden gems..

The place is really worn down and it was really cold in the building. It was also really messy in the house, some of the rooms and outside. There weren't any wifi. The kitchen was lacking essentials. For two days we were out of coffee mugs. For the whole time there weren't any cuddlery. There was one pan, which didn't have a handle and a single pot. And multiple other things. I sadly can't recommend the hotel.

check in procedure was weird, I managed to get hold of someone (phone only) who gave me the door code (I was there by 6.30 so not excessively late) but couldn't tell me a room number, then Once I was inside I rang again for a room number. this is all a pain on a non australian phone. Finding the room wasn't easy either as the numbers didn't seem to be logical and not all rooms were numbered. Lock on the bedroom door was barely adequate (didn't completely connect with the door frame) For the first time ever in more than 20 years travelling solo my spidey senses were unhappy, i didn't feel unsafe but didn't feel comfortable either. Was booked to stay 3 nights but left after just one.... shared bathroom was dirty and almost no toilet paper available. not sure how many people were using it but the staff member only put one roll out when I asked for more and it was almost all gone by the morning. shared kitchen had no crockery so no way to have a cuppa tho there was a jug Curtain was so thin that I could have been doing a striptease show for the people on the street if I had undressed with the main light on. toilet seat was barely connected to the base. was expecting one step up from a backpackers from the price and the description but this was definitely substandard compared to every backpackers I have stayed in.

however the room was tiny, the sheets and towels were stained, the walls are VERY thin when you have excited neighbours. The front rooms are very noisy especially at night, you can hear absolutely everything so I would recommend bringing earplugs just so the sirens, car exhausts and train/trams don’t keep you up all night.

The staff at the mansion were lovely and very helpful, for the price of the room I might have expected a little more, but, for just an overnight stay where you need a bed this place is good.

I booked this suite specifically for the bathtub - only to find when I arrived that despite running the hot water for 20 minutes, there was no hot water running to the bath. I was also not provided with a plug for said bath to use it, nor with any towels.

The fact that they never had toliet paper there were no staff around they always had the keys in the doors when you checked in the fact that I never saw any staff the whole time I was there the bed were uncomfortable
