Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaBreakfast was a "hamper" left in the room, pretty basic. we had a problem with the " contactless check in " which didn't work quite as it was meant to due to a staff error and due to a rain storm as we arrived.
Location was good, beautiful garden and large and interesting old building. There were 5 or 6 common rooms, including 3 lounges and a billiard room. all lovely old rooms. Bedroom was very large and comfortable.

AustraliaBreakfast was a little too basic. Aldi brand snacks not what I expected at a $400+ per night accommodation. There was 1 small heart chocolate on the bed for us- a couple on our wedding anniversary - odd!! No milk frother with coffee machine to make the coffee properly. Not enough milk to use for cereal and coffee for 2 in the morning. Only 1 coffee pod each available for overnight stay. For "continental breakfast included" it seemed not well thought through.
Bed was super comfy, as was couch, very peaceful, spa was great. All clean and tidy. Grounds are gorgeous. Lovely ambience, charming.

AustraliaNot really a dislike, but I would have liked there to be something along the lines of in-house dining and the option to have a cooked breakfast.
Lovely restored Inn. The rooms are comfortably furnished and much roomier than they appear on the website. Very quiet and restful.

AustraliaWe were on the ground floor which was nice.. however, there was a young family above us with two children. They were so noisy jumping and running around from the moment they arrived until approximately 8.30pm when we yelled out from our room to "quiet down". It was on again first thing in the morning.
The facilities are just lovely, we had a walk around the property which is kept to a high standard. Our room was big and comfortable. We were greeted by the host when we arrived, and he was very friendly and helpful.

AustraliaWe have stayed there before in a building, The Schoolmasters House, seperate to the main house. These rooms are spacious with seating areas and views over the garden - quite lovely accomodation. This time we stayed in the main house which is the old inn, the rooms are much more compact. We had booked a “garden view room”. Our room on the 1st floor had no outlook at all, just 2 dormer windows which were too high to see out. This was disappointing and, although the room was quite nice, I would recommend anyone to stay in the Schoolmasters house to enjoy space and also the beautiful gardens.
beautiful historic home. the house can be viewed with a self guided tour, is well decorated and beautifully kept.

AustraliaWe selected a loft room (not spacious) and if returning we would select another type as the ceilings are low. The bathroom was very small.
It is a very interesting and historical property with lovely gardens. We could take our small dog with us (for an additional charge). The bed was comfortable. Very clean and tidy. Would return.

AustraliaThe room was hard to find and we had to make a few calls as the staff were offsite. They were helpful and it was quickly sorted.
Lovely location and the history of the place was a great feature. It was hard to initially find our room but it was comfortable. As an old guest house, it was a fun place to stay, with lots of parking and lovely gardens. If one is looking for a modern and plush hotel, this is not the place but we enjoyed the old style of the house and found the room extremely comfortable.
