Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCould do with more bathrooms as they were always very busy. Only 2 lifts for a massive building led to many delays.
Fairly modern rooms, good vibes and always busy with people. Good location.

GermanyThe showers and toilets were clean, but the water pressure sometimes was weak and the door to the toilets and showers made getting in and out a bit tricky.

IndiaThe Housekeeping. Always required to be called for cleaning of the Room. If you said No then the Housekeeping Staff would not check again later.
The Location on Elisabeth Street was easily accessible from the Melbourne Central Bus Station by Tram. Good location with food and wine stores and a pub close by. The Victoria Market and various sites are also easily accessible by Tram. A Free Walking Tour organised by the Hostel. A wonderful Kitchen, Dining and Store Area. Coffee and Tea on the House and a Rooftop Café for a quick good cost effective breakfast.

AustraliaIt was OK. I paid for one of the best rooms and stayed for a month and a half. It is a pity that for the people that decide to stay long in the hostel, they still have to book week by week with the possibility of having to change rooms. The hostel should allow people to book more than a week in advance if they can pay. This hostel has a crazy amount of beds, but the common areas are too small and reduced for the people that it hosts.

GermanyTo get to your rooms you have to use an elevator that sometimes takes some time until there is one. Additionally, the flushing in the toilet didn't always work.
The location was perfect (extremly central!) and the house itself pretty cool with a huge common area and a pretty relaxing vibe. The guy at the reception was very nice and let us feel quite welcomed. We didn't use them, but there was a rooftop cafe and a bar that sounded very promising for a nice time.

AustraliaI didn't like that there was no air con in the room, just a couple of small fans. It was really hot and it was not even the hotter days. The new bathrooms are great, but they could have a couple more hooks in the shower area for towels etc, so people don't make the whole bathroom so dirty.
I really like the location. I like that the bathrooms on level 10 are all brand new. I like that I can get a room for myself. The beds are comfy. The rooms are always clean enough, especially for a backpacker.

Taiwan1. A great amount of smokes and fumes go out from the pipe of the range hood of the kitchen, which makes the guest room filled with odors while the kitchen is busy. It's better to close the window in the room all the time. 2. The ways in the kitchen are often blocked by some people who love to chat in the kitchen instead of cooking.
The location is super: 1 minute to tram and 2 minutes to Flinders Street Railway Station as well as the Fed Square on foot. Crossing the street to reach the well-known Degraves Street. Supermarket and restaurants are right on the corners. Staffs were very friendly and helpful: be prepared for an awesome Melbourne trip by seeing the weather forecast and suggestions on the blackboard in front of the reception.
