How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

the huge amount of stairs we had to carry our bags up and there was no parking right next to the stairs. Only fit healthy people allowed. The pool was surprisingly cold for February in Australia

The pool was being refurbished and should have been available for half of our stay but it wasn’t finished and no sign of any work being done to progress it . To be fair, we were told we could use the pool in the hotel next door but the fact the apartments had a pool on site was a big factor in us choosing it.
Apartment had everything we needed. Washing machine and dryer were very handy to have. Rooms were clean and comfortable . Kitchen had everything we needed. Location was good, and the River Hotel next door served lovely food.

We were happy with everything. Perhaps a few more local products, such as a jam or two, and olive oil would have been a nice touch.
Easy check-in. Parking at door to unit. Location was within walking to restaurants, hotels, town centre. The rooms were big and the unit was stocked with cutlery, crockery etc. Our unit was well furnished.

The shower taps in main bathroom were extremely hard to turn on/off, we did report it, but they were not fixed while we were there.

Apartment 38 overlooked swimming pool which was very, very noisy when children were using it for several hours on first afternoon of our stay

Our only complaint was that the pool was closed for repairs for the 3 days we were there.
We stayed in apartment 4. It was very spacious and clean and had all equipment required in the kitchen. The patio area was great as well. Parking at the door and free Wi Fi. All you would need for a great stay and only abut a 15 minute walk to town.

not enough towels. 2 night stay, would of been nice to have 2 towels per person/per night.
It is a good location, can easily walk to the city centre, clean room, and a comfortable bed. Space in the apartment was enough, roomy balcony. Easy to access, check-in and out was simple and quick.

The pool was closed as early due to concerns with chemical. It was a very hot day, and the pool was busy with many disappointed guests. Should of been on to of this knowing the weather was expected to be very hot.

Bathroom exhaust fans were very dirty as was the ceiling fan in the 2nd bedroom. Front window had tinting but people could see straight through it, Workers were in the back courtyard each morning and we were not notified by text that this would be occurring. Room should be aired out before arrival to get rid of the cleaning smell. There was no shampoo or conditioner, luckily I brought some.
Room was spacious and location was great for what we wanted. Multiple bathrooms were appreciated.

The rubbish bins outside apartment 37 and 38 were overflowing for the four days we were there. Plus the steps and landing to the second story were filthy.

Cooking facilities could have been a bit more comprehensive. No working batteries in remote in main bedroom or tv in lounge. Not enough detergent.

Very comfortable with all home comforts. Bit out of town but only 15 minute walk to work up an appetite. Nice swimming pool but no time to try it.

Tried to get to the gym but the key would not work. The reception was not in the apartment complex but at The River next to it.
The apartment contains everything that we need. Very clean and well-maintained. Great location easy walk to the city centre.
