Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaCould hear the noise from other rooms very clearly (ed chair dragged). Also the fridge was noisy - but there was an issue getting maintenance - so we had to put up with it. The pool looked much larger than web images implied.the
Friendly helpful staff (Ann) - it was reasonable walking distance to resturants and the beach.

United KingdomCommon room was a tad sombre and lacking much in the way of diversions. WiFi was slow.
Large apartment style suite with room to unpack and spread out. Small but workable kitchen. Pleasant outside covered space which protected the solid dining furniture from sun, wind and rain (we had them all). Walking distance to the beach (5mins) and the town centre (5-15 mins). Parking underneath was always available though we understood it can be busy in peak periods. Room slightly dated but well equipped and functional. We made use of the laundry room downstairs which was quite standard and available when we needed it. My wife used the pool a couple of evenings, it was smaller than it appeared in the photographs. Good location for visiting famous attractions is Central Queensland area, we made trips to Mossman, Daintree, Cape Trib, Herberton and Rainforest Skyrail by car. Only Herberton (Atherton plateau) was a bit of a trek but well worth it.

United KingdomWalking in the room (room 3, ground floor) was a huge disappointment after Anne's warm welcome. It smelt strongly of damp and mould, with some dark patches visible on the bedroom wall. Even with the air conditioning on, the room felt damp, musty and dark, thanks to the thick foliage outside the window. Sitting on the bed was a shock, as it was creaky and uncomfortable, and the bedding was damp. (I know we're in the tropics, but most hotels manage to keep the rooms a lot more damp-free.) We were so disappointed with the smell and feel of the room, and the mould affecting my husband's asthma, that we went for a walk, and while out, we looked up somewhere else to stay and checked out within an hour of arriving. Anne did say we could look at and move into another room, but we had already decided to go. I'm very impressed that the professional photos on here make the place look a lot more glamorous than it actually is. Sorry Anne, but had I read a few more of the reviews on here, and not simply glanced at the rating, we probably wouldn't have booked. I still say your welcome is the best that we've ever had in any small guesthouse we've visited though. Thank you, but sorry, we just couldn't stay.
Good location - walking distance to Port Douglas town and the marina, and also a short walk to the beach. Parking on site. The welcome from the lovely Anne was fantastic - I'm sure there isn't anything about Port Douglas or the local restaurants, facilities and tours that she doesn't know!

AustraliaThe apartment furniture is old . Worn, torn , and the chairs inside and on verandah very uncomfortable . Ironing board and cushion covers grubby . Bodom didn’t work . Pool furniture cushions also torn and tired and uncomfortable to lie on . Overall feels for the price could do with a bit of a replace and refresh .
Anne was friendly and helpful and overall the resort was quite nice and in a good location . Apartment was clean and had sufficient amenities for a self contained apartment .

AustraliaSmart TV and internet service issues. Staff Anne and Jason very rude and unhelpful re these issues during our 5 day stay. Even suggested we hire technician to fix issue which I consider would be like hotel guest having to employ a plumber if there was a leaky tap in the hotel room. This is my first complaint re my long history of using Booking.com. Have not had issues connecting to Netflix etc at other hotels

AustraliaThe toilet upstairs in our 2bedroom apt leaked throughout our stay. We were given towels and a mop to clean the leak and informed a plumber would be called to take a look on Monday. We didn't see a plumber at all during our stay. The towel rail fell off the 1st night but I managed to put it back in place and informed reception. Apt is OK for a short stay with immediate family. There are shuttered sliding 'walls' for privacy in the upstairs bedroom but there are no doors to the toilet and bathroom area. Similarly, the downstairs bedroom has a shuttered sliding door. I couldn't get my Netflix to work but luckily I had books to keep me occupied in the evenings. The pool is heated which was a bonus. Easy walk to macrossan St. You could walk to the beach but it is a good 20 mins. The sunset from Rex Smeal Park is a must. Good base to explore Mossman gorge.
Location was handy to Four Mile Beach and the main street, Macrossan st. Coles within walking distance. It was ok for a short stay.
